Keep Your Eyes on the Goal
Whether you’re rebuilding your home or staging it, the homeowner has to have a goal in mind. For us it was to have our first floor living space back, especially the kitchen. For you as a home seller, it may be getting a certain amount of money or having your home sold by the time school starts. Everyone’s goal will be different, but it’s important to have a goal and stay focused on achieving it. This is what will drive your habits and decisions even on the worst days during this process.
I think part of the reason we were so successful in rebuilding our home in a timely manner was because we didn’t lose sight of our goal. It was hard to come to terms with the fact that we lost ten years of our lives in ten minutes---memories we will never be able to replace, like a trunk full of 9/11 memorabilia or photographs of our childhood. But Sal and I both knew that dwelling on this catastrophe wouldn’t get us any closer to returning to normalcy. A part of us knew that when we walked down those stairs the morning after the storm, we were lucky to be alive and everything else was superficial.
My emotions might not have been so composed about the destruction if I didn’t witness the storm’s wrath firsthand. Staying in our home that night changed our lives forever, so it was easy to make a goal that would expedite the rebuild. Many people questioned why we didn’t just sell the house or raze it to the ground, or they would ask why we added custom finishes on a floor that could flood again. We say, “This is our home. We want to feel at home again.”
A lot of work went into making our house “feel at home” once more. While it’s effortless to put up sheet rock and create the four walls of a room, what is going to be the purpose of that room? How is it going to look and feel? The expression “feel at home” means to feel as if you belong, to feel as if you are home, to feel accepted. This is exactly what we want buyers to feel when they walk into your home for the first time, like this home belongs to them.
I realized that by going through this rebuild I could not only teach homeowners how to expedite repairs and remodels but show them how to create a stylish, comfortable living space that makes anyone who walks into that space feel accepted. This “feel at home” process has helped hundreds of homeowners reach their goals to sell their homes. These homeowners have also spent on average 78 percent less time on the market and have a combined increase in sales of $980,000 after staging their homes with Stylish Stagers. This process has not only helped me rebuild my home, it has helped hundreds of people move on with their lives---and it could help you sell your home.
Now it’s time to dig even deeper and explore in detail my 10 Steps to Feel At Home process. Are you ready? Let’s get started!

- Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2015If you are looking to sell your home and would like for it to sell fast...Feel At Home:Home Staging Secrets For a Quick sale is THE book I recommend. My husband and I recently made the decision to put our home up for sale. I decided to search the web and Youtube for tips on how to go about it. Selling our home fast was our objective and I had no clue how to make that a reality. I came across Tori Toth on Youtube where she talked about her new book. I bought it as an Ebook and quickly devoured it. Her book goes into detail on what you need to do. Even though I had a very limited budget, I focused on improving those areas that potential owners would like to see themselves in...like the bedrooms and bathrooms. Our home went on the market July 20th, 18 days later we got an offer. Two agents that gave us feedback commented that they liked how our home showed. One client shared that they were impressed with the presentation of the home. I highly recommend using this book as a very important tool. You can go back to it as a reference at any time. Look at other homes in your area that are for sale, real estate websites (i.e. zillow) post pictures. See what you can do to make your home stand out above the rest. Use Tori Toth's book to help...It made that a reality for us!!! Thank you Tori!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 15, 2016It's what I wanted. To learn how to make people walking in that front door feel at home. To make them develop an instant bond with my home. I want them to love thishouse and pay top dollar! Yes, she even talks about ACTUAL staging! My favorite part is talking about creating a focal point for each room. I recommend you check out her facebook and pinterest pages for additional help. But the book is worth every penny. I'm working on everything to make sure my house gets top dollar.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 30, 2016Don't waste your money. The best things about this book are the cover photo (which lends you to think that this book has the same quality/color photos) and the 2015 copyright. The "illustrative" before and after photos are very poor quality b & W, blurry, and small. Do some Googling, watch some YouTube, or spend an afternoon at Barnes and Noble selecting something that will be of more value. ( I also purchased STYLED by Emily Henderson at the same time as I purchased this book and I am very pleased with it. Great photos, layout, and content)

- Reviewed in the United States on August 19, 2015I must confess that when I purchased Tori's book I wasn't really in the market to sell our house. I just simply wanted some great, fresh design ideas that I could incorporate into our home to "pull everything together" and have some fun at the same time :-)
I selected Tori's book because I was very familiar with her name and her reputation in the New York City real estate markets. I've been a broker for over 17 years and I figured if she can make that much of an impression in NYC then how can her book be anything but fabulous.
I have had a great time going room by room in my house implementing ideas that I got from this book and the results have been wonderful! I found it to be concise and user friendly, which is important, as not everyone comes by this level of design sense naturally. I have recommended it to both friends and clients and so far have gotten only positive response.
I would highly recommend "Feel at Home" to anyone thinking about selling your home or just looking to step up the design level of your own place!

- Reviewed in the United States on January 10, 2017I borrowed this book from the library into my tablet. Some useful information but I would like to know why the before pictures always show a small, area of the room, else making it look more cramped than it is and the after pictures show panoramic views which by itself gives the room a more open, airy look.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 6, 2015I'm Very Happy to finally read a book that has more substance than clean, declutter and neutralize. I will be getting a few copies for loaning to our listing customers.

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of money
Tiny book & the few pictures it does have are barely visible because they are black and white. Better books out there by far

1.0 out of 5 stars Schlecht gemacht
