Humans are hardwired for awe.

Our hearts are always captured by something—that’s how God made us. But sin threatens to distract us from the glory of our Creator. All too often, we stand in awe of everything but God.

Uncovering the lies we believe about all the earthly things that promise us peace, life, and contentment, Paul Tripp redirects our gaze to God’s awe-inducing glory—showing how such a vision has the potential to impact our every thought, word, and deed.

Editorial Reviews

Review

“I still remember the first time I was in awe of God. It came after years of attending churches and calling myself ‘Christian.’ It was a major turning point in my life. It is an awe of God that inspires my major life decisions as well as my daily actions. Thank you, Paul, for getting beyond symptoms and getting at the heart of the matter. This book is brilliant, and I wish every believer would read it carefully. We live in a crazy time. We need books like this to help lay healthy foundations for our lives, so that we don’t spend our days overreacting to unpredictable events.”
Francis Chan, New York Times bestselling author, Crazy Love and Forgotten God

“Paul Tripp has a way of helping us to get beyond the surface. It is clear that Paul has thought through this subject deeply. Read this book and find yourself challenged and encouraged to stand in awe of the reality of God and to take him seriously because of it!”
Eric M. Mason, Lead Pastor, Epiphany Fellowship, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; President, Thriving; author, Manhood Restored

“Paul Tripp’s books always challenge me and draw me closer to Christ. This book is no exception. As followers of Jesus, we can sometimes get too comfortable with God. It’s easy to forget that part of knowing and loving God is revering him. If you will read this book with a hungry and humble heart, God will use it to deepen your passion for Christ as you rediscover just who God is and why we’re invited to revel in his awesome glory.”
Craig Groeschel, Pastor, Life.Church; author, Daily Power: 365 Days of Fuel for Your Soul

“Simply put, I read everything that Paul Tripp writes. I can’t afford to miss one word.”
Ann Voskamp,New York Times best-selling author, The Broken Way and One Thousand Gifts

“When you find yourself in awe of something, you never forget it. It changes you. I just finished reading this book, and I’m writing this at 2:45 a.m. in tears. Convicted―not of my sin but of my righteousness in Christ! In awe of who Jesus is and who I am in him! Tripp has tapped into something that I hope is like a defibrillator to the flatlined believer. We were made to live in awe; may we never forget this!”
Bart Millard, Lead Singer, MercyMe

This book has changed my life. I recommend everyone read this book. It changed my life so much that I bought 3 extra for my children. This book makes you realize that all problems in life are vertical not horizontal. It is all about our relationship with God.

Loved this book! My first Tripp book but certainly won't be my last. The whole premises of life issues revolving around Awe and diving into that concept of awe was so interesting to me. It was a unique perspective that I had never seen explored in this way before. I only give it four stars because I think it can become a little redundant by the end of the book. That being said, I would still read it and can't wait to reread it in time.

Tripp--yet again--uses his humility, transparency, and masterful knowledge of scripture to lead us into the presence of God. Growing up in the 80's, I clearly remember the pop cultural embrace of the word, "awesome." Valley Girl vernacular diluted and de-mystified its true meaning: pizza, parachute pants and parties qualified as "totally awesome."

But Tripp reminds us of the true definition of "awe" and the One and Only that fits the description, "awesome." And it's no surprise that much of what is broken between the "now and not yet" is profoundly connected to misplaced and misunderstood "awe."

We cannot possibly hear often enough, "fix your eyes on Jesus." Tripp's exhortation is fresh, ancient and appeals to the awe-seeker in every man as He reminds us of the Hope that will not disappoint.

This is my very first book review--that's how powerful this Truth is!

I've just read Awe for a second time. During my first reading I highlighted so many sections, the pages barely revealed white. My second reading of this book blew me away and almost the entire book is highlighted. I am amazed how this book makes you look at yourself and assures you that you're not alone. It reveals why we feel and do things that are counterintuitive to what being a Christian is all about; and how God's grace patiently waits on us. Paul Tripp is my favorite Christian author and I have read everything he has written. If I were to recommend one book, it would be this one. After reading it, however, I'm certain that you will be drawn to his other works.

Not yet finished reading it yet, but powerful in true Tripp-style. This book cuts to the core of sin's effects on the desires of our heart.
