Major Washington Kindle Edition
On May 28, 1754, the colonial militia surrounded a party of French-Canadian soldiers. With 15 minutes of rifle fire, the colonists slaughtered the French, then allowed Indian guides to take the corpses’ scalps. Observing this grisly scene was a towering young major named George Washington. In the aftermath of the Battle of Jumonville Glen, Washington retreated to Fort Necessity, where he was soon forced to surrender, signing a document claiming responsibility for the assassination of French troops. The result would be the Seven Years’ War—the greatest international conflict the globe had ever seen. It would also be the making of a statesman.
In this rousing historical novel, Michael Kilian reconstructs the events in Washington’s life that led to that pivotal day at Jumonville Glen and molded the man who would create a country.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 31, 2009I found this novel entertaining in the extreme. Of course, I wouldn't cite it in a college term paper or in a serious historical work, but I'm certain that the author didn't intend for it to be used for that reason. It's historical fiction, with the emphasis on the word, fiction. I rate a novel on how enjoyable it was to read and, since I read historical fiction to escape from the world of today, I also rate it on whether or not it made me feel as if I were there? This one did. I would recommend it to any historical fiction buff. A good writer of historical fiction throws in just enough of the facts to make it believable to that time period, nothing more. Mr. Killian certainly did this. Read it. It's a very good story.
It is a tradegy that Mr. Killian's pen has been silenced, he was an accomplished writer.
For those who like to read historical fiction set in the French and Indian War era, I would also recommed the following books. Red Morning, Red MorningMidwife of the Blueridge, Midwife of the Blue RidgeLoving Lynn Celia, Loving Lynn Celia: A Novel Of The French And Indian Warand Savage Wilderness Savage Wildernessjust to name a few.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 30, 2016This is a very good book. It isolates the basics of the martial arts in clear and understandable fashion. As noted by an earlier reviewer, it does go outside the box; it steps outside technique and categorizes technique by principle, and thus makes technique easier to understand. While another reviewer didn't like the photo section, I did. I liked the way the techniques were isolated by principle, which makes technique easier to learn, easier to do. Yes, a pretty darn good book. I'm interested in whether the author will do another book and go deeper into the techniques, and grow the techniques into layers of self-defense.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 2, 2016I found this story to be very immersing especially as I've been enjoying "Turn - Americas Spies" on AMC lately.
I love that the dialog is written in a vernacular that seems to be of the time. The characters are very engaging.
