“This guide to becoming “pretty happy” is a simply charming path to calm self-confidence.” —Publishers Weekly, starred review

Like everyone else, Kate Hudson is constantly on the move, with a life full of work, family, responsibilities and relationships. In
Pretty Happy, Kate shows how she honors her relationship with herself through exercise, making the right choices about what she eats, and constantly going back to the drawing board and starting fresh, instead of holding herself to unrealistic standards of perfection and giving up when she falls short. The key to living well, and healthy, is to plug into what your body needs, understanding that one size does not fit all, all the time, and being truly honest with yourself about your goals and desires.

Focusing on the Four Pillars of Health to enhance well-being,

  • Cultivating an Intuitive Relationship With Your Body
  • Eating Well
  • Awakening Your Body through movement
  • The Miracle of Mindfullness

With questionnaires to help you assess your Body Type and your stress levels, advice about cleanses and keeping your diet and body balanced, and plenty of interactive Drawing Board exercises,

From the Back Cover

You don’t have to be perfect—PRETTY HAPPY IS PRETTY GREAT

Like everyone, Kate Hudson is constantly on the move, with a life full of work, family, responsibilities, and relationships. In Pretty Happy, Kate shows how she honors her relationship with herself through exercise, making the right choices about what she eats, and constantly going back to the drawing board and starting fresh, instead of holding herself to an unrealistic standard of perfection and giving up when she falls short. Kate doesn’t tell all, she tells true—sharing what she calls her Four Pillars of Health:

PILLAR ONE: Cultivate an Intuitive Relationship with Your Body

Determine your body type, focus on the areas that cause you pain, physical or otherwise, and decide what your goals are for putting your health first.

PILLAR TWO: Eat Well

Learn how Kate has determined her body’s food needs, and what you can do to restore your own body’s nutritional balance.

PILLAR THREE: Awaken Your Body

Learn the importance of movement and the power of changing the kind of movement you do to reinvigorate yourself on a regular basis. Discover your exercise type.

PILLAR FOUR: The Miracle of Mindfulness

Tying it all together, Kate shares how meditation and mindfulness have changed her life in myriad ways, making her happier, less susceptible to stress, and more “in the moment” in every way.

An authentic plan for an authentic life, from a woman who truly lives what she speaks, Pretty Happy will become your mantra for health and wellness.

Important, if you have a soul issues.
I am halfway through and decide to buy 3 more for some friends! This for me was all about finding health, happiness and calm. I'm unemployed but highly hopeful and I think if you feel a tad "lost" right now, then I recommend this book. My soul feels of value again. Thank you to all involved in this book.

Kate also lists at the end of the book a few of her favorite books, alkaline & Acidic foods list, a daily planer & a recipe or two. The book is 231 pages & is sprinkled with Kate's pictures. My reason for buying the book is because I want to know how she maintains such a rocking body, a glow & such confidence. Who wouldn't want that? I will update once I read cover to cover. Happy reading, be healthy & pretty happy!

I always read the worst comments first before I order the book just to see if I still want to read it. I bought this one as soon as it came out, so did not have that prerogative this time around. I actually got a kick out of the bad reviews as they complained that this is all 'old news'. Well most self-help books are all old news, guys. She is simply summarizing how she went about being healthy and happy. If you don't agree with her method, so be it, but don't criticize someones' effort to share their life story....and this is a kind of self-help-bio. Sure there may be mistakes (I have not finished the book), but publishers always have a deadline. She is a busy girl, so I'm sure she was under pressure to finish the book. Anyway, all the info I have read (which I already know most of it) has just given me new incentive to do what I am supposed to do, eat right and exercise. We all have our own methods to achieve goals, this was hers. She is just sharing her way of going about it, and if you can relate, that's great! I enjoy reading everyone's adventure in life and this kind of helped me get back on track. I'm sure next year I will have to read yet another health book to push me in the right direction, because I continually need that little push. The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of 5 is because of all the photos throughout the book. They were more like a models photo shoot. It kind of took away from her message by showing us her beauty. We can't all look like that and the photos do not show someone overweight or with imperfections. Too much of this has made young women want to look like stars, we need to show the not-so-perfect public occasionally and how they accept who they are. I am not overweight, nor have I ever been, but it would have been nice to have her show us a little cellulite, wrinkle or two, or even bloodshot eyes when not getting enough sleep. That would have made us all relate.

I'm 1/2 way through this book in one sitting, but I already love it. I was hesitant to buy it because I wondered if her age would not be relatable to me and where I am in my life and I'm finding it is. I'm 56 and still searching for happy, healthy ways to love my body. That never ends. What I have found refreshing is that it is also a workbook with lots of opportunities to think and write about thoughts, feelings and beliefs. Knowing which dasha I am doesn't really matter as much to me as learning to listen to my body. Paying attention to the feedback it is giving me and honoring my body for all that it does for me. In some ways it sounds so simple, but in other ways it isn't and it's all a matter of my mindset. I am looking forward to continuing the book, going back and re-reading and I'm highlighting as I go. I know that learning to be patient with myself is a lifetime job!

This book is amazing. I just read this book in a time in my life that has help me find myself again.
Kate Hudson.... thank you... I can't put everything I have gained from this book into words. The amazing self confidence has returned and feelings in my spirit, soul and life has helped me realized I had been putting many of my fun, joys, excitement in the back of cupboard... I know I can release my inner thoughts, I can meditate to help me breath and not judge myself or allow myself to be judged. That eating healthy is this book is a good thing not a diet. Cleansing = a fresh start. I love the meal plans, grocery list and references provided in this book
I bought this book for my daughter and my son's girlfriend for Christmas this year. They noticed changes in me, back to my happy self again. Thank you !!!!
I loved it .

It cues you in to different subjects, but you might need to reference other books if you're curous like me. Great motivating read to start on a lifelong journey of better overall health that gives you tips, tricks and tools to stay on track.
