Unforgettable Kindle Edition
A volunteer with the Maui search and rescue team, Greg Braxton is training a greyhound under the extreme conditions of a lightning storm when he finds an unconscious woman in a car at the bottom of a cliff. When she awakens, she doesn’t know who she is or what she was doing in a treacherous rainforest in the middle of a raging storm.
Nothing about the woman makes sense. She has the face of an angel but was found dressed in tawdry clothing, wearing a dead woman’s shoe. Is she an innocent victim, or a cunning criminal hiding behind amnesia? Greg takes to calling her “Lucky” because she’s lucky to be alive, but no matter how much Greg comes to admire and desire the woman he saved, he can’t give her back her past. With the law closing in, Lucky and Greg must discover her true identity before someone else—someone obsessed with her—finds her first.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 23, 1998Perhaps if Zebra spent as much on publicity as it did on *Unforgettable's* expensive dual-image cover, Meryl Sawyer would rack up the sales of fellow romantic-suspense authors Nora Roberts and Karen Robards. Certainly she deserves the readership for books that take troubled characters and throw them into circumstances that draw them together.
In *Unforgettable*, Greg Braxton is on a training run with his search-and-rescue dog when they find a car wrecked in a ravine, its
female passenger bleeding from a head wound. The woman turns out to be suffering from a form of amnesia. Not only can she not remember
her name, but even the body reflected in her mirror -- bleached frizzy hair and the wardrobe of a hooker -- is that of a stranger.
Greg is attracted to the woman he nicknames Lucky, but having suffered through one marriage with a cheating wife, he's unwilling
to enter into a relationship with a woman whose morals seem questionable, to say the least. The evidence mounts against Lucky when the car she wrecked turns out to be stolen, and she's linked to an obnoxious local politician. Nonetheless, when a man shows up claiming to be Lucky's husband, Greg finds himself more anxious to protect her than push her away.
Amnesia plots have got to rank among romance novel's most trite. But Sawyer's complex, well-drawn characters bring a freshness even to a soap-opera staple. *Unforgettable* isn't as, well, unforgettable as Sawyer's *A Kiss in the Dark* or *The Hideaway*, but it's definitely a cut above most books in this overcrowded genre.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 10, 2000I'm still on my reading streak with Meryl Sawyer. I have to say that I'm glad I discovered this author. I really enjoy the romance, mystery, and suspense she puts in her books. Unforgettable is about Greg Braxton and Dodger, a search and rescue team (Dodger being the dog, which you will just fall in love with!). They find a woman that has run off a cliff in her car. Both save her, but she has lost all her memory, so they call her Lucky, since she can't remember her name. Greg starts to discover clues about Lucky and they soon figure out that someone tried to kill her, not that she ran off the cliff. In Unforgettable there is lots of mystery surrounding Lucky, and her and Greg have to find the answers before the killer strikes again! Unforgettable is a good read!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2013I very much enjoyed the Hawaii setting and the handling of the characters, as well as the work regarding the loss of memory issues. Learned several things in a very enjoyable read.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 5, 20203.25 stars for story 4 stars for narration. I used to read all this authors books as they came out years ago. I found this on Audible Escape and grabbed it. Unfortunately, it wasn’t as good as it could have been. It’s certainly not a police procedural unless it’s what you shouldn’t do! And that irked me because I’ve been reading so many good romantic suspense books lately. Parts of it were really good with a lot of suspense towards the end. The romance was okay, but I had a hard time loving the main characters. The TSTL(To stupid to live) moments by the heroine towards the end just made me mad. Also, the tell not show part at the end pretty much sealed the deal for me as a not so well told story. I did love all the animals involved and there’s quite a few. Even a tiger shark.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 26, 2010Some romance novels are a bit much for me, but I loved this one. Especially with the unexpected twist near the end.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 4, 2017There is nothing worth mentioning about the book. The plot was ridiculous and none of the characters were likeable.
