★★★★★ ...Like taking a complete mind trip into the abyss. CD Reiss uses hard hitting words like a weapon....she is able to lure you into a false sense of security using her words as a caress one minute then striking without warning the next. Her words are as exquisite as they are shocking. She manages to pull you in, tease you, taunt you and leave you gasping for more!

★★★★★ These little stories of hers suck me in so deep I don't want them to end. Her characters are not your typical princessesand knights in shining armour (Except King Jonathan). Don't go looking for those cute little love stories here. What made her come up with The Drazen Family? I don't know but I'm very glad she did. This is more of what I crave to read.

Questions about Forbidden from Nina at The Literary Gossip....
Forbidden is Kick and Use, which have already been released, and the brand new book, Break. Why did you do it that way?Kick was released as part of the Bend anthology, so it's owned by about 20K people, but it kind of got lost. So the fact that Kick had had an odd type of release for the beginning of a series meant Use didn't reach a lot of people. When I wrote Break, which is longer than Kick and Use combined, I did it thinking it wasn't going to reach anyone but my hardcore fans. I read the whole series over and thought it really hung well together as a standalone. Then inspiration struck. Because Break would be more than half the book, I could release as a standalone! My fans would just skip to Break and everyone else could start from the beginning.Fiona's not your average heroine. What made you want to write about a celebutante?I wanted to explore what happens when a normal person is raised without boundaries. How pleasure and pain become the same thing because there are no limits to anything. She does drugs and has a lot of kinky sex because she's seeking boundaries. When she's seeking the limits of her darkness, the story gets dark. You write about Hollywood a lot! Why is that?I live in the heart of Los Angeles. I've almost been hit by paparazzi and I'll see a random crowd gathering around an entourage. My kids go to school with the kids of very famous people who live behind hedges and need bodyguards. I see the toll this can take on a person. But I also see how normal and human celebrities and their children are.

My individual reviews for Kick, Use and Break

    KICK
    Summary
After attacking her lover, Fiona Drazen finds herself locked up in a psychiatric facility under the care of Dr Elliot Chapman. Fiona comes in addicted to sex, drugs, and her celebutante lifestyle. She can't remember attacking Deacon, her lover. And she wants out of the psych ward. Will her handsome new doctor release her from the facility? This book ends in a cliffhanger.

    What did I think?
I think CD Reiss is the master character creator. Fiona is a hot mess, but made instantly likable by the need to care about what happens to her. She has a strange attraction with her new therapist and an infatuation with her lover Deacon. I left this story dying to know what really happened to Deacon and hoping the good doctor turns naughty. Thankfully, I am able to start book 2, Use, right away because waiting is not an option at this point!

    USE
    Summary
Use starts right where Kick left off. Fiona is attempting to remember the night of Deacon's stabbing. Elliot is trying to help her find her worth while fighting his attraction to her. Deacon is trying to shelter and protect her by controlling and dominating her. Everyone feels they have Fiona's best interests at heart, but do they? The story ends with a devastating scene into the cliffhanger of all cliffhangers. Who will Fiona choose? Will she see herself as more than an object of desire?

    What did I think?
Whoa.. This installment in the Songs of Perdition serial is intense. The ending blew my mind. CD Reiss, there are no words. I am speechless. I love this story. I love the Drazen family. I love Deacon. I love Elliot. I love Fiona. I hate Warren. That is all really.. It's better to say less and experience more for yourself, but this is a must read series.

    BREAK
    Summary
Break is the final installment in the serial Songs of Perdition. After the traumatic ending of book 2, Fiona is finally free from Westonwood. But Westonwood changed her. Can she continue to be controlled or does she need to control? Will she end up with Elliot or Deacon or solo? Will she ever let herself feel loved? Will she be avenged? This is the heart squeezing, erotic conclusion to Fiona's search for self worth.

    What did I think?
The conclusion to Fiona's story is perfect. The book picks up where Use left off. Although she leaves with Deacon, she quickly realizes the time she spent at the psych ward changed her too much. She's finds herself questioning everything and she's unable to jump back into her submissive life with Deacon. She's still traumatized by the events from the end of book 2 and she's quickly becoming lost in what to do with her life. She's met with temptation, desire, love, family. The way CD Reiss unfolded the actions and consequences of Fiona's decision making process was phenomenal. As I said in my review for book 2, the less said about this story, the more you can experience it for yourself.

Seeing how a young Jonathan shaped who he ends up developing into in the Submission series was quite the treat. It speaks to the incredible writer Ms Reiss is. And will we get a book for Margie? Please?! Finally, the epilogue is everything. It's all that and then some..

****I'm a huge CD Reiss fan, so I hope this doesn't sound like I'm fangirling (eh, never mind I am totally fangirling..), but the serial for Fiona Drazen was perfection. The story, the writing, the integration of the Drazen family, the dark topics, the erotic aspects - it's truly brilliant. Well done Ms Reiss, so very well done..

I had to push myself to read this, but am so damn glad I did. The beginning of this story sort of bored and confused me, but once I got the gist of what was actually happening, I found the book hard to put down. CD Reiss is a brilliant writer, and each story she has told so far in this series is so different to the other. At first I have no sympathy for this poor little rich girl who does nothing but party, get high and have sex with everyone and anyone. Gradually that non- sympathy turns to empathy when the underlying story emerges.

Kindle Friends Forever: Reviewed by Sharon Thérèse Nuttall

Forbidden is nothing less than a masterpiece. Sucked in from the first page, it was clear to see that I was not going to be in for a colourful, flowery or lovey dovey read. Far from it. As I read on, my coping mechanism teetered on the brink of despair running my emotions riot. And regardless of the many anguishing moments which never seemed to cease, never was there a moment when my curiosity waned. Here, we have a profoundly honest narration of three protagonists with no holds barred. Not only does this book have an incredibly descriptive and well-developed storyline, but it also has a series of events which left me exhausted. This is precisely what I look for in a good read and oh boy, the author delivered with a capital D! It took me a while to suss out the structure of the read simply because I had a blonde moment; but after consulting with my buddy readers, I soon understood why Ms Reiss did what she had done. Three books melt into one so if you've read Kick or Use and can't remember certain details in these two books, no worries. Clicking on the arrows in Break take you back and refresh your memory. In my case, I hadn't read them so I started at the very beginning. Now it must be said that this is one hellishly long read; however, I couldn't turn the pages quick enough and putting it down wasn't an option. Despite Kick leaving me with my mouth wide open and Use shattering me to pieces, Break was for me, the read where I would come undone.

Firstly, I had very mixed feelings towards Fiona. I got the impression that her sailing through life from one party to another causing one disaster after another with no cares in the world, scandalous. She was shameless, risqué, gave no explanations; least of all to her family. Warming up to this complex young woman wouldn't be an easy task for me. Getting inside her head, finding out how she ticked, and why she was chose a road of self-destruction was even more difficult. She scandalised those who knew her, belittled herself, and the way she behaved was clearly because of her addictions. Addictions which I might add, are crudely related. She convinced herself that this was what she wanted and no-one was going to stop her. She was also convinced Deacon, her Dom, is the only one who understands her needs, but by willingly relinquishing her body and soul to him, I felt he was doing more harm than good. Her total submission wouldn't erase her need for sexual discovery either. It wasn't until Break that the pieces of a complex jigsaw puzzle or even the likes of a game of chess, were going to slip into place. These pieces were to be moved exquisitely but by whom you may ask! And whether or not I liked the goings on, or questioned one of the protagonist's morality, he would be responsible for a turnabout in her life. Was it possible that more angst and nail-biting scenes could be added to such a complex story, because it was clear that the author wasn't going to give the reader a chance to come up for air.

I really wanted her to learn to love herself. When it happened, I saluted her. I was in awe, applauded and kissed the very earth she walked on. How she managed to reach the unreachable was her trust in a professional who made her see the light by convincing her that she could be a better person, value her self-worth and overcome her past behaviour.

I really did like Deacon. This man of few words has complex traits, is drop-dead gorgeous and quite a bit older than Fiona bought out a lot of conflicting emotions in me. But he wasn't to be my man. Elliot won me over hands down. He's reliable, loves his job, his girlfriend and has a life which is just plain nice. Helping people is what he does and well at that. Even though his work colleagues respect his work, when Fiona walks into his life, he won't be the only one to question his feeling. Say no more! Love triangle? I'm not keen in using this noun as I didn't think for one moment that it was. Flawed characters who have to find a happy medium is exactly what this story is about.

Harsh issues are dealt with in an exemplary manner by the author. Her storytelling technique sold me! This is the first book I have read by her hand and it certainly won't be the last. Every minuscule detail whether narrating the secondary characters' hangups or delving deeply into three souls striving for goodness, was simply outstanding. I really do have to mention the end of Break and its epilogue. You, Ms Reiss, have one very happy reader. Thank you so much and bravo!
