Ghosts on Tour: Wylie Westerhouse Book 1 Kindle Edition
A singer. A girl who talks to the dead. Thrown together in the American south, what could possibly go wrong?
Wylie was this close to being "America's Brand New Voice." When his manager broke the law and fled the country with Wylie's girlfriend, his one chance at success spiraled down the drain. Nowadays, managing a music store pays the bills while Wylie plays the clubs in Branson, Missouri. A new friendship, however, could change everything…
Holly can see ghosts. Ever since her family moved into a Scottish castle, she's been able to communicate with the dead. When a flood kills local tourism and forces Holly and her uncle to sell the castle, she follows the castle's ghostly inhabitants… all the way to Branson.
After Holly shares her "gift" with Wylie, the magic girl and the musician must team up to save the castle from a group of Branson ghosts out for much more than blood.
Wylie Westerhouse: Ghosts on Tour is the first book in a series of supernatural new adult novels. If you like dark ghost tales with more than a touch of humor and the Sookie Stackhouse books, then you'll love Nathan Roden's mysterious and entertaining campfire tale.

About the author
The Casper Halliday NYPD Series continues into 2022! Both Sides of the Law is Book 1
in the Casper Halliday NYPD Series, and introduces a hero under the most unlikely circumstances.
Ghost Man is Book 2 in the series and takes our hero to some dark places.
Books Three and Four continue Casper's story. Book Five is finished and coming in January 2022.
The Casper Halliday Series has no end in sight. After starting the writer journey late in life, I feel I have found my voice and my path as a writer. I love the cast of this series and have lots of ideas for their future.
Nathan Roden is the author of two fantasy series. I, Dragon tells the medieval story of a Beast who meets a Beauty in a land that is no fairy tale. All four books are available now: My Name is Simon, Rebellion, Thrones Under Fire, and Death of a King.
The Wylie Westerhouse series features ghostly tales full of colorful characters. These books are sprinkled with humor and a touch of romance. The first three books are available now: Ghosts on Tour, The Dark Stage, and The Lightning's Kiss.
Nathan lives in South Central Texas with his wife and two in-and-out sons.
Nathan is both mature and immature, and sarcastic, and sometimes finds humor in strange places. The Roden family includes more dogs and cats than is necessary, including Toby the Westie.

Holly came to America to be with the castle that was shipped over and to go to a university. But her secrets can’t stay hidden and Wylie must prove himself worthy of her trust. My favorite part of the book is when the little ghost responds to Holly’s question, “Are you going to bite me?” And she replies, “Why, do you taste good?” Excellent story!
Wylie is a talented singer who almost made it on a reality show for performers when the lawyer he'd hired to handle financial matters ran off after being caught trying to fix the results. Thrown off the show and deeply in debt, he works two jobs: one as the manager of a hole-in-the-wall bookstore, and one as the lead singer with his own band, playing in local bars. His friend, eccentric millionaire Q, buys and imports a 700 year old Scottish castle, reassembling it on prime property. The former tour guide of the castle, Holly, appears and Wylie is smitten. Wylie and Q don't know Holly hasn't come to take care of the castle as much as for her friendship with the 500 year old family who lives there.
This young adult novel has everything needed for a typical story of the genre: a musician wronged and reduced to working a low wage job, a millionaire friend who enjoys spending his money on people and things he likes, a spooky castle, ghosts, a bully and a love interest. There's even a small dog for the Scoobie Do fans. There's mild angst, a boy -meets -girl, boy-gets-kicked, boy-and-girl-get-together, a sub plot bully and the bully's insensitive father, and the threat he might have to move back home.
Fortunately, the story rises above the level of a cartoon.
Wylie is a likeable character. As a young adult, we are spared the anxiety-ridden coming of age story that represents so many books in this genre. We know things will work out, but enjoy the process of getting there. Instead of cruel high schoolers we get Wylie's collection of weird but fun friends. He's too nice of a guy to stay down long.
Q plays his character of eccentric millionaire cheerfully. He handles most problems by throwing money at them, but never in a mean or superior way. He particularly enjoys the James Bond movies and uses his money to indulge himself by buying cars related to the movies.
Much of the humor is provided by Holly's lack of knowledge of American idioms and television references, and the father ghost's lack of understanding about nearly every thing in America except Baywatch. The humor doesn't devolve into crude reference or innuendo, but doesn't really rise above sober bar jokes.
The characters are drawn lightly; no deep anguish or soaring heights. The story itself is shallow, light and predictable, but a quick and easy read.
The story moves around music, friendship, and spooky ghosts in a castle. It may appear as a weird combination at first but then it gets going and you realize it's one of the better ideas Roden could have come up with for the first adventure of Wylie Westerhouse. The characters are likeable even if not very developed, and the plot is really entertaining and fast moving.
It was a very good book all in all, full of mystery and suspense, and sprinkled with a perfect amount of dark humor. I'll be reading the rest of the series for sure!

Unlike the usual supernatural novel, this one is in no way scary. Nathan Roden has spun a merry yarn around an old haunted Scottish castle, which is transported across the Atlantic to Branson Missouri.
The story flows well and Nathan has created thoroughly believable characters. The reader can really identify with the main characters Wylie Westerhouse, (the singer with a heart of gold) and Hollie McFadden (the former occupant of the Scottish castle, who is also a medium). Their developing love story is compelling and runs through the developing supernatural core.
The whole narrative has an underlying humour, which makes this a book that you do not want to put down.
There are a few minor background issues, which do not distract from the story but Mr Roden should have been a little more careful with his research. In the sixteenth century, when the ghostly former inhabitants met their demise, they could not have been at War with Britain, as that country would not be founded until the future and the author is probably referring to Scotland's neighbour England, which was a separate kingdom. Also gophers, racoons and skunks are native to North America and not Scotland. There is an unexpected twist at the end of the story, which will lead to the sequel.
