Tip 59: TRY SOMETHING NEW

Cross-linked polyethylene (also called PEX) is becoming a new standard for indoor pipes. This stuff is resistant to extreme temperatures and stress as well as to chemical damage from acids and alkalines. The material is flexible and suitable for use in temperatures below freezing and up to 200 degrees Fahrenheit, including potable water.

PEX is easy to thread through stud holes without binding against the wood like a rigid copper pipe can do. When a pipe reaches a corner, simply bend the flexible pipe through the corner studs—no joint is necessary. With PEX supply line, fewer joints save time and reduce the likelihood of a leak. PEX is less expensive than copper, and PEX joints can be made with simple quick-connect couplers.

I bought this for my brother but I’ve already crack it and the sister that bought it is excited about getting after the DIY’s myself!

After reading the ebook version of it for a while, I absolutely thought that I must have a hard copy of it. When the book arrived, I even love it more because of the metal guard on the corners, thick and long last pages and beautiful diagrams which are much better than the ePub version. I will certainly reread the whole book although I have already finished some parts of it on my iPad. Nice book.

Fom the book's cover with its metal guards on the corners to the layout with its small DIY snippets of text, this book is a winner. I really love that it's organized by skill level so you can immediately see if the task you're about to embark upon is one you can handle or not. You could read it cover to cover, because it's a fun read, or dip into it as a reference book. Either way, highly recommended!

Disappointing. For all the clever little puns and cute titles, this book seemed like the outline for a DIY manual. There were few detailed how-to's, and the illustrations were simple and unhelpful. The Black & Decker Home Repair or Family Handyman 100 things every homeowner should know are both far superior.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wrong book for the job. Tips is the Hint

I was looking for an ebook like the DK hardback DIY book.
This is as stated 321 Tips, so not a home DIY book.
Honest its more like a simple DIY dictionary.
Wrong book for my money, but hey whatever, no paper was lost, so won't be able to use to to prop up a wobblily Table leg or use as a door stop, will have to buy another book for that.
