Margaret has been writing for over 35 years. She started writing in the late 1970s because she wanted to see if she could put a whole story down on paper. That book is still in the drawer and will never see the light of day. But she was able to finish a book, which was her goal.

She decided after that to get some help, and joined a writers' roundtable where she met once a week with some fellow writers who went over each other's work. She sold her first book in the early 1980s and has been selling ever since. She loves to tell a story. When she was a little girl she made up stories while playing with her dolls. On long trips with her family she would weave a story about the surrounding countryside. From those early beginnings grew a love of entertaining people with a story. She has sold nearly 5 million books worldwide with over 90 books.

When she went away to college, she met her husband, Mike, to whom she has been married for over 40 years. He is her support and her best friend. She has always felt she was the luckiest woman the day she bumped into him on campus.

When they married, they moved to Tulsa, where she finished her degree in special education and began teaching. She loved teaching and working with students with special needs. They helped her remember what is important in life. She also participated in the Special Olympics as a coach with her students and has attended the State Games in May for years. Recently she retired from teaching to write full-time.

Besides teaching and writing, she is also a mother of one. Her son, Shaun, loves animals and there have been times they could have their own zoo at the house. The most interesting pet Shaun had is a leopard tortoise, which could outlive him. She has joked that his children will be inheriting a tortoise. He is married with four daughters.

When she isn't working, she loves to read, travel, and go to lunch and a movie with a friend. She has been to many countries in the world and loves to meet new people. Her favorite place is Tahiti -- Bora Bora. It is as beautiful as all the pictures portray it.

In her travels she has found herself in some interesting situations. Once, in London, she got caught in the middle of a protest that later turned into a riot over poll taxes. In the rain forest of Costa Rica, she was covered from head to toe in mud and ruined a perfectly good outfit. She should have remembered it was going to be wet since it was called a rain forest. In Rio, she and a friend were left with no means to get back to the hotel on the other side of the city. Neither Margaret nor her companion spoke Portuguese and there wasn't a cab in sight. Thankfully one finally pulled up to the curb at the museum because she couldn't see herself hiking across Rio to get back to the hotel at night.

A beautiful story and the fourth book in the Lone Star Cowboy League series. I truly enjoyed the growth of all of the main characters in this story. The truth, of past and present, sets this story up for heartbreak, healing, and forgiveness. I do recommend this book to anyone (even my daughters). I suggest reading from the beginning of this series, and especially recommend reading the first two LSCL series that came before this one. Wonderfully written. Thank you Margaret for another beautiful story.

I love this series! However, you do not have to read every book to know what is going on. Each author does a great job of giving a quick overview of what is going on "in the series" so you can read any book and know what is happening. One of the reasons I liked this book so much is the vulnerability of the hero, Nick McGarrett. His father was an abusive alcoholic as he was growing up and he didn't receive much love and attention so he understand what young Corey is going through. Corey is a young boy who is at the center of this book.....a boy who keeps running away from an alcoholic father. Enter, Darcy Hill....... Her car breaks down on the highway one day and Nick picks her up and tries to drop her off at the bed & breakfast where she tells him she's staying (they haven't met before). But, he receives a call that Corey has run away and Darcy tells Nick she'd like to come with him and search for Corey. Because Nick is in a hurry and there's a storm coming in, he just takes her along. As the story progresses, we find out the backstory of Darcy, why she's in town and why she has a connection to Corey. Nick, who has always closed himself off to all things "family" because of his past, just might come to realize that a family might be in his future. There were SO many great themes in this book. I don't want to spoil it by spilling them all but it's a great story of forgiveness, family, second chances and so many other things!
I recommend this book!

The Cowboy’s Texas Family ( Long Star Cowboy League: Boys Ranch)
Margaret Daley
The Cowboy’s Texas Family is in a series of Long Star Cowboy League:Boys Ranch . Even though it is in a series it can be read as a stand-a-lone with no problems. I love the story and the characters, both were easy to follow. Daley knows how to weave a story and grab you right at the start and not let go till the end. She does not disappointment me. There is lots of strange things that is going on around the Boys Ranch. Corey is having a hard time now, his mom died and his father turned into an alcoholic and cant watch Corey. Nick loves Corey and promised a buddy he would help watch after him. He is doing his best , but he thinks he is not father material to take Corey in. Nick is keeping some of his childhood a secret and has not told anyone. Darcey is in Haven, Texas to finds some answers, she lives in Alabama . She meets Corey and falls in love with him. I caught myself with tears in my eyes and could not read fast enough to see what was going to happen. What will happen to Corey. Nick thinks he is not father material and Darcy lives in Alabama. Darcy and Nick gets close while she is working at the Boys Ranch . Daley weaves a story of hurt, forgiveness, and love. This is a heartwarming story that will touch your heart.
I was given a complimentary book , but was not told that I had to give a positive review. All opinions are my own.

Parental decisions often have a very harmful effect on their children. The children suffer while the parent continues in his or her devastating pattern. In this story, Corey’s mother is dead and his father is an alcoholic. Ten-year-old Corey had an older brother who was killed in the military. The brother had asked his best friend, Nick, to be a big brother to Corey if anything happened to him. Nick finds it difficult to help Corey because the alcoholic father tries to keep everyone else away from his son. Then Darcy comes into the picture when she arrives in Haven to seek to meet her biological father. Learning that Corey is her cousin makes her determined to help him. The attraction between Nick and Darcy ramps up but he has a past that he refuses to talk about. Can Nick get beyond his past? Can he be a part of Corey’s future? Will Darcy meet her biological father? Does she have a place in Corey’s future or will he spend the rest of his childhood at the Lone Star Cowboy League Boys Ranch? Is there a way to save the Boys Ranch with strong opposition from an influential attorney in town? Find inspiration in the story as you read along to see what will happen to these folks and other interesting characters. Faith plays a key role in how the story turns out. That is true in this fiction story but it is also true in our lives. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.

I love cowboy stories and books written by Author Margaret Daley. The Cowboy’s Texas Family setting is at the Lone Star Cowboy Boys Ranch in Haven, Texas, and has a Stetson-wearing cowboy named Nick McGarrett, a wealthy newcomer seemingly on vacation from Mobile, Alabama and a young boy, Corey Phillips, looking for a secure and lasting home. Nick has secrets in his past he needs to deal with. Darcy is looking to find her biological father and in the process, finds a cousin, Corey, who needs a home. When Nick and Darcy meet, there is an attraction but Nick doesn’t want a family, and Darcy wants what she sees her mother and father have. Will Nick finally deal with his past and take a chance? Will Darcy finally get the family she wants? Will sweet Corey get the security he needs? There are things going on at the Boys Ranch to sabotage its existence. Will Darcy find out her biological father is behind the trouble? Each in this series is written by a different author and compliments each other. A journey filled with faith, hope and forgiveness!
