An Amish Home: Four Novellas Kindle Edition

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 233 ratings

A Cup Half Full by Beth Wiseman—Sarah Lantz always dreamed of the perfect home, the perfect husband, the perfect family. When she married Abram, she knew she was on her way to securing her perfect life. But all of that changes in one moment when an accident leaves her unable to walk and confined to a wheelchair, dashing all of her dreams. As Abram starts to transform their home, Sarah begins a transformation in her spirit, and she begins, once again, to see her cup as half full.

Home Sweet Home by Amy Clipston—Down on their luck and desperate after they are evicted from their small apartment, Chace and Mia O’Conner reluctantly take Chace’s Amish boss up on his offer to rent them the daadihaus located on his property. They are certain they will never feel at home in the rustic cabin without any modern conveniences, and they start to blame each other for their seemingly hopeless situation. But with the help of their new Amish friends, Chace and Mia begin to enjoy their cozy cabin and realize that home really is where the heart is.

A Flicker of Hope by Ruth Reid—Fifteen years ago, Thomas and Noreen King were blissful newlyweds. Young, naive, and in love, life was rosy . . . for a while. Then trials and tribulations rocked their foundation, shattering them emotionally, and soon, their marriage was in shards. All hope for restoring their previously unshakable union seems lost. When fire destroys their home, Thomas and Noreen are left to sift through the rubble. As uncovered items from the remains of the house shake loose memories of the past, Thomas and Noreen begin to draw closer and a flicker of hope—and love—is reignited.

Building Faith by Kathleen Fuller—Faith Miller knows that carpentry is an unlikely hobby for a young Amish woman, but she loves the work and it keeps the memory of her grandfather alive. So when her cousin asks Faith to build the cabinets in her new home, Faith is only too happy to take on the job, even if it is the most ambitious project she has ever taken on. The only catch is that she has to work with her ex-fiance, Silas. As they work to build Martha’s kitchen, can they put the past behind them and start to build faith in one another again?

She left her job as a journalist in 2008 to write novels fulltime.

Beth has a deep affection for the Amish and their simpler way of life, and while she plans to continue writing Amish love stories, she is also branching out into other areas. Her first non-Amish, contemporary—Need You Now—released in April 2012 and landed on the CBA Bestseller List. She enjoyed writing the story based in a town near where she lives, and she chose another small Texas town for her next non-Amish contemporary—The House that Love Built—which is based in Smithville, the same quaint town where movies such as Hope Floats and Tree of Life were filmed. Beth continued to spread her wings when she released The Promise in October 2014. Inspired by actual events, The Promise follows Beth’s characters all the way to Pakistan. Beth was involved in the real-life rescue when her friend was held captive in Pakistan. Beth is currently working on book #2 in her new Amish Secrets series, tentatively titled Jacob’s Ladder. Book #1—Her Brother’s Keeper—recently released and was chosen as a Top Pick by RT Reviews Magazine.

Beth and her husband are empty nesters enjoying the country life in Texas. When she’s not writing, she loves to travel, paint, and enjoy time with friends and family. This Novella is truly a winner! Beth Wiseman, Amy Clipston, Ruth Reid and Kathleen Fuller remined me what the meaning of true home means. Love, compassion, forgiveness, faith, understanding, patients all wrapped up in prayer makes for a health foundation for a true home.
In the first story A Cup Half Full: you will meet Sarah and Abram, after a tragic accident that leaves Sarah in a wheelchair she struggles to make a home again while Abram struggles to not only provide for his wife in her new condition, but the bills from transforming their home. Can they fine there way back to each other and build a home again.
In story two Home Sweet Home: you will meet Chace and Mia a young couple with a newborn struggling to make it after her family turned them away and life keeps throwing them curve balls. Can they keep their faith and trust in God in their new small Cabin? Or will too many odds be stacked against them?
Story three: A Flicker of Hope: you will meet Thomas and Noreen down on their luck after a fire destroys their home and they are forced to rebuild from scratch, also their marriage is at a rocky place, can they find their way back together through prayer and community support?
Story four: Building Faith: you will meet Faith and Silas, Faith is unconventional in her roll within the community and after breaking off her engagement with Silas she finds herself working beside him to complete a project. Can they forgive the past to build a bridge to the future?

I found this book one of the best books I read in a long time. As I read each story I realized how very true these four stories were. We all need to have a solid foundation of faith, forgiveness, love, prayer, support, family and God to build our home.
I highly recommend this this book.

A Cup Half Full, by Beth Wiseman; Home Sweet Home by Amy Clipston; A Flicker of Hope by Ruth Reid; and Building Faith by Kathleen Fuller. All are good stories, well-written and they left me hoping we'll hear more about the characters and/or their families, in future books. There are recipes from each author included, as well!

In her novella "Home Sweet Home" Amy Clipston steals readers hearts once again. The characters are easy to love as is the plot of this story. Right off you will meet Chace and Mia who are a young married couple with a child less than a year old who are down on their luck. You will also come to know Chace's employeer and his family who are Amish. Through these hard times and other obstacles will Chace and Mia be able to make it through? You will have to read Amy Clipston's "Home Sweet Home" to find out.

Great book simple: I enjoyed the stories. They were written with simplicity, yet plenty of thoughtfulness. I liked that each story had a lesson and a message.

Enjoy stories from all of these authors. That being said I liked two of the stories better than the others. I like a novella when each story is intertwined.

I Read this on the Kindle

This is a 4-1 book each of the stories are by a different author did feel all the books should have not been in this as needed more to tell the story & to give it each a good ending

A Cup Half Full well while this was a good story felt like it should have been a longer story with a better ending or know more at the end & I don't think that the title is fully correct as i felt Sarah didn't think her cup was half full not until very near the end

Home Sweet Home a nice story but to me it ended rather suddenly without fully telling the story

A Flicker of Hope this one went from present day back 15 years & back & forth didn't really tell why they were like they were yes some was told but not fully & did feel that it wasn't such a story that flowed

Building Faith this one was usual of whether a couple who have broken up can get back together with the carpentry being a little item between them if they were courting & have known each other surely Saul would have know even if she only did it with her Grandfather he would have seen some of her work but it was a nice gentle story at least it ended better than the previous ones

All in all if you like Amish books & the authors you may like this i have read much better Novellas which some of the authors have been in
