The IRS Problem Solver: From Audits to Assessments—How to Solve Your Tax Problems and Keep the IRS Off Your Back Forever Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 72 ratings

  • Are you burdened with the tax debt of a current or former spouse?
  • Have you just received an IRS computerized or "correction" notice?
  • Are you in danger of having your property seized?
  • Has your tax return been selected for an audit?
  • Is the IRS knocking on your door?

If you've answered "yes" to any of these questions, you're not alone: more than twenty-five million taxpayers are faced with the terrifying prospect of dealing with audits, assessments, or other IRS problems every year. But with all the books devoted to how to prepare your taxes, there's never been one that explains how to get yourself out of trouble easily, legally, and inexpensively -- until now. With The IRS Problem Solver, veteran tax expert Dan Pilla offers the first comprehensive guide to dealing with the most common IRS problems taxpayers confront, from face-to-face audits to fraud penalties. Pilla's book is an indispensable preventive tool for all who file their own taxes—and a necessity for anyone who's just received a notice that the wolf is at the door.

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Who among us doesn't dread an envelope bearing the official Internal Revenue Service seal? Well, stop quaking in your mailboxes--Pilla, a tax litigation consultant (How to Get Tax Amnesty, 7th ed., 1998), is coming to the rescue again. Even though the IRS recently underwent a congressionally mandated restructuring, Pilla claims it won't be long before the government agency overcomes the improvements. Fortunately, he says, there are still many ways to fight back--and win--when faced with audits, letters demanding the payment of massive penalties, even levies or liens. He simplifies arcane language, underscores easy remedies (such as writing letters and photocopying all documents), and, best of all, showcases sample letters and supporting statistics throughout. With his nine secrets to handling an audit (from assuming you're right to preventing audit abuse), most taxpayers will not only regain possible assessments but also recognize that the IRS is no longer the all-powerful monster of taxpayers' nightmares. A great book for both individuals and business owners. Barbara Jacobs

Use the material in this package to cancel penalties and interest--even bogus IRS notices. In addition, Dan helps with dozens of other pesky IRS notices and letters that are wrong, incomplete or incomprehensible. THIS BOOK by Dan Pilla, is your BEST FIRST STEP to help you learn to tame the Beast and solve your problems with the IRS.
You will learn things your Accountants don't want you to know, and you will discover that you can solve the problems you may have with the IRS.
Yes most of us do owe some taxes, but far too many of us are asked to pay more than what we truly owe.
With This book Mr Pilla teaches you about the IRS work process and opens the curtains so that you can know how to respond to notices and to incorrect assessments and how to prepare appeals affidavits to argue your positions with the beauracracy. If you are reading this, BUY THIS BOOK AND READ IT AS SOON AS IT ARRIVES.
I know it can help. It helped me.

Received it before the date expected (nice!) and in great shape; no tears, welts, marking, or stains. It's informative and covers more ground than I expected. The english is plain and easy to follow (in layman's terms) without all the legal jargon to impress and confuse. Gives plenty of references and citings. Also, it isn't a "1,2,3 steps" outline, but I have learned much. Still not finished reading.
