About the author

Beatrix Potter is one of the world’s best-loved children’s authors, capturing our imagination for over 100 years with her beautifully illustrated Tales. However, few people are aware of the fascinating woman that Beatrix was or the achievements she accomplished in her lifetime, during an era when ambitious women were not allowed to flourish. An artist, storyteller, botanist, environmentalist, farmer and businesswoman, Potter was a visionary and a trailblazer and left an incredible legacy.
From her first book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit (1902) she went on to create a series of stories based around animal characters including Mrs Tiggy-winkle, Mr Jeremy Fisher and Tom Kitten. Her humorous, lively tales and beautiful illustrations have become a natural part of childhood.
Since 1984 more than 150 million Beatrix Potter books have been sold around the world, whilst over 2 million Beatrix Potter books are sold every year worldwide – so one Beatrix Potter books sells somewhere in the world every 15 seconds!
A source of inspiration was the Lake District where she lived for the last thirty years of her life as a farmer and conservationist.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2011My kids really enjoy any story from Beatrix Potter, which is fine by me because I loved her stories as a child. Sure this version of the story for Kindle is not illustrated, so I read the story to my kids at bed time and told them to close their eyes and use their imagination. There is another version of the story for Kindle that you can get for around $6, but the free version works just fine. I am a Christian mommy who is very picky at what I let my kids read/hear/watch and this is a very appropriate book for our standards.
(By the way, my little ones are 4 yrs, and 2 yrs in case you were curious what age group I was reading to)

- Reviewed in the United States on May 24, 2014Beautifully Illustrated by Wendy Rasmussen. She is an amazing illustrator, I like the story too but it was the illustrations that made me buy this, I will be collecting everything she illustrated if possible!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 4, 2000Children who love animals of all kinds, and especially insects, will love the Tale of Mrs. Tittlemouse. Mrs. Thomasina Tittlemouse is rather obsessed with cleanliness. She is constantly sweeping and dusting. Unfortunately for her there are a variety of unwelcome guests that invade her tidy home: a beetle, a ladybug, a spider, a butterfly, a group of bumblebees who have made a nest in her storeroom without permission, and a most unpleasant toad named Mr. Jackson who never wipes his feet and creates a terrible mess. However there is a happy ending to this story. The watercolors are beautiful---I particularly like the one of Miss Butterfly tasting the sugar. If your young ones have a dislike for creepy crawly creatures, then this story might not be for them, but I have always found Beatrix Potter's tales delightful and unique, and The Tale of Mrs. Tittlemouse none the less so.

The advert for this book leads one to think the book is an original first edition from 1910 whereas in fact it is a reprint from the 1980's. However that said the book is brand new and is a beatrix potter tale so for the princely sum of 1 penny + pp the book is still a bargain and although disappointed it is not an original 1910 edition this book will still make a fine gift to someone.
