Wonderful paranormal romance with all the feels

Willa Thorne has produced an amazing paranormal romance with Sacred Vow. It has been awhile since a paranormal book has capture me as this one did. Julian Devereux is a dark older vampire and such a strong, sweet, chivalrous gentleman. (Where can I find a man like this in real life?) Lia was written very well also. She was not weak or undecided with all that she was exposed to. There were some twists and turns built into the story while they were predictable they were still perfectly written.

I am thrilled to know there will be more stories written about the characters in this story as there is so much more I want to know about all of them. This is not a cliffhanger

This was a good story and even though this isn't the ending of Lia's and Julian's story, it doesn't end on a cliff hanger. There are characters that were introduced in this book that I wouldn't mind getting their own books like the rest of Lia's family. I would like to see Lia come into her own and grow her confidence in future stories. I liked Julian's slow softening and metamorphism from monster and feral vampire to protective male defending his mate.

I've not read any paranormal books before, so this was a first for me. If you aren't a paranormal fan, but love Willa's writing, give it a chance. Willa wrote this story in a very tasteful way, not overdone at all. I've read Willa's other books, and I love her writing and how she brings her stories to life! This book was no different. I felt like I stepped back in time during Julian's flashbacks to the past. Julian is officially my first vampire crush, and he may be my last. The chemistry between Julian and Lia was so freaking hot, I thought my kindle was going to overheat! Great supportive cast of secondary characters. I look forward to more from this cast of characters! Another job well done Willa!

Aurelia comes to live in her childhood home with two of her friends. She has no living relatives apart from her brother, who's been gone for years now. She regards herself as average as can be, apart from the ugly birthmark, resembling the sun.

That all changes one night at an art benefit, where she encounters a handsome stranger. She is perplexed how she is drawn to this man she knows nothing of. And the feeling is mutual.

Julian is a vampire, almost three hundred years old. He has fallen into a void in his life, nothing matters, it's all the same. He cares for his vampire family, but other than that, nothing. Until he meets Aurelia. And nothing's the same anymore.

As the story unravels, Aurelia and Julian find out that they are each other's enemies. Aurelia is a descendant of long line of vampire hunters, the Cormac family and she bears her birthmark as a proof. Julian has made a vow, a sacred vow, to kill every last one of Cormac's. And a vampire never breaks his promise.

They are caught in the middle, both loyal to their families and irreversibly linked to each other. They must decide between their love or loyalty.
Willa Thorne's vampires are traditional in the sense, that they are made. Older, stronger vampires turn humans into their kind. And Thorne's vampires sustain on human blood. I liked this story, the characters had depth and I sure loved the old times charm that Julian had. Willa Thorne has a talent to write emotions and for example, Julian's inner struggle was very well depicted.

As this was first book in the series, much page time was used to explain details such as Julian's and his vampire family's origin. Maybe it got too into detail to my taste, because the story could have had better flow. The book had few thrilling scenes which I liked and some of the characters, that I hated in the beginning, turned out to be the heroes. So Noel and Evie - everything's forgiven and you're both redeemed in my books.

I will read the new installations to this series, because now that the rules of the world and the origin of the vampires Thorne's created have been explained, the story flow will without a doubt improve.

When I heard that Willa Thorne was writing a paranormal book, I was ecstatic. I've been craving a paranormal book like a vampire craves blood. And Ms. Thorne certainly delivered.

A Sacred Vow was everything that I wanted and more. From a thirst to revenge to Julian and Aurelia's forbidden love, I couldn't get enough. And the sex scenes were so hot I swear that my Kindle needed a cigarette.

If you dare, let yourself be swept away by this pleasurable paranormal romance. The only thing I crave is more of Willa's deliciously wicked writing.

I feel as though I must start this review by saying I am not a PNR romance fan. If I'm totally honest I avoid PNR in book form however I'm a complete sucker for the Twilight and Underworld franchise. So imagine my surprise when one of my fave authors releases a PNR/Vampire romance. From the start I knew I had to read it, because its Willa and well her books are fantastic but I have to honest and say I had reservations. But I dug in and what followed was me becoming embarrassingly addicted to a Vampire named Julian Devereux.

I don't quite know how Willa did it, but from the prologue I got that little sizzle of anticipation, that little burn of fire that helps pull in us bookworms and keep us attached. That sizzle and burn never fleeted either, it never dulled. If anything it got stronger until a deep raging fire bloomed inside me. I found myself falling in love with a paranormal book. Now I know this book is classed more as a vampire romance but like I said for me, a non PNR reader, that was huge. And I suppose I have to give HUGE credit to Willa for not only writing a book that kept me addicted outside my usual genre but I also have to give her huge credit for the phenomenal way she wrote this book. In my opinion Willa is a diamond in the rough, an author who is still relatively small in comparison to some but could easily sit up there with the "bigger authors" her writing is flawless, her storytelling addictive and her deliverance powerful.

In A Sacred Vow we meet Julian and Lia. I really don't want to go into how they meet or how they fall in love or how they are almost ripped apart, literally. But what I do want to say is that these two characters are so intense, so sexy, so ridiculously sensual that if you don't get shivers from these two then I honestly think there is something wrong with you. Lia is a fantastic heroine, I absolutely adored her and her outlook on everything and how she was able to hold her own.
Julian is intoxicating. Addictive. A sensual, protective alpha male that singed me from the inside out, he made my pulse spike, my heart race and my head spin. I LOVED him and his old english gentleman ways. I don't know what else to say I just. I. LOVE. HIM. Okay? Good.

A Sacred Vow is a wicked, intense, deep soul tugging love story that just explodes from the pages and burnt everything inside me. A stunning 5 star read of forbidden love and passion that blooms into the most beautiful, breathtaking love.

I may go off on tangents, but at my heart I’m a PNR girl so I couldn’t wait to sink my teeth into this story!! *snorts* (see what I did there?) Added to which, this was a new to me author and I had heard great things about her writing. And let me tell you, she did not disappoint.

Julian Devereux made a vow years ago to eradicate the bloodline of the family that had hunted his coven mercilessly. Imagine his shock when he finds, not only that branches of the line still exist, but that his mate, the one destined to be his other half, is in fact one of those descendants? I love characters like Julian, he is the epitome of the anti-hero. He has done bad things in his years of existence, but you still root for him and swoon a little – ok, scratch that! – swoon a lot. It’s the whole connection with the blood sucking that makes your lady bits tingle. Or is that just me lol??

Lia Galligan hasn’t had the easiest of lives. She’s learned to cherish the people and things she loves as nothing in this life is guaranteed. She adapts quickly to her new reality and the realisation that the love of her life is in fact a vampire:

“I want to be with you forever.”

Yet, can our star-crossed lovers ever have a HEA? The suspense was brilliantly woven throughout the story with just the right amount of heart stopping moments where you worried what the outcome was going to be. The sexual chemistry between Julian and Lia was palpable, but they also had a soul deep connection.

“You are my love, my light, my heart.”

I can’t wait for the continuation of their story. I don’t know if this will turn into a series or just be one more book, but I for one will be stalking the author for updates as I need more!! Especially about Nolan, there’s definitely a story there lol!!
