A Place in the Sun Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 3,137 ratings

A full-length STANDALONE romantic comedy from USA TODAY bestselling author R.S. Grey.

When her mother’s incessant matchmaking hits an all-time high, Georgie Archibald does what any sensible woman would do: she flees the country.

Seeking refuge in the picturesque seaside village of Vernazza, Italy, Georgie’s only plan is to lie low, gorge herself on gelato, and let the wine and waves wash her troubles away...that is until she wakes up in a bed that belongs to the most romantic-looking man she’s ever seen.

Gianluca.

After going out of his way to rescue her, the former London financier turned mysterious recluse makes it clear that despite acting as her white knight, he has no plans to co-star in her fairytale.

But Georgie isn’t asking for his heart—she’s merely intrigued.

After all, Gianluca isn’t just gorgeous—tall and tan from days spent in the sun—his touch sets her world on fire. With him, Georgie experiences the most intoxicating passion she’s ever known, and it only takes a few steamy nights for her to realize that sometimes running away from trouble is the best way to find it.

Catch me in Vernazza eating gelato with Georgie!!
A Place in the Sun by R.S. Grey — it was a perfect summer romance read and lovely “escape”! The setting was in the seaside village of Vernazza, Italy. It made me want to book a trip there immediately to go eat gelato, drink wine and eat bread by the turquoise water and golden sunset. I love when books take place in real towns! The setting and sensory input from the author were just so perfect, plus the dialogue was funny, witty and I couldn’t put it down!

When I met Georgie as Freddie's sister in the Summer Games, I was curious she brightened up that book and added another layer to it. Her zest and flare for things no matter how mundane. Needless to say I was enthused knowing she finally has her own book. I've always wanted to know her more. This book made me like her more and of course Gianluca too. I've not been to this this part of Italy but Rachel just made feel all sorts of wanderlust. I agree gelato in Italy is the best. So are the everyday guys who look like models.

Cinque Terre looks so picturesque from everything I've seen and heard. Reading about Georgie's adventures, it feels like I'm transported to the coastal town. The scene is inviting and warm, full of life. Georgie has always seemed to be the class clown, life of the party now with her mother's persistence growing she needs to take charge. I can relate to that in a way the nagging of your parent, it makes you want to go about it your way. Do your own thing, find your own way. She didn't expect to fall for the guy she first encounters on her travels.

Upon meeting him though, it wasn't like she hoped. Grumpy, surly, resident recluse Gianluca is still in grief mode and is closed off emotionally. Has been for a few years now, all sorts of miserable and mopey, making an effort to keep the gloom stay away from our heroine. But one little fire cracker Georgie is tenacious as heck Her energy is infectious, one of the things I like most about her, the kind you wanna be around. What starts as a crush becomes a unusual friendship, they danced around the other for sure. Oh the tension I ate up all those moments in between. These two have a invisible line tying them, even if it wasn't at first. That tiny spark that became a flame. It's going to be hard to stay away from the guy who seems perfect, kind, loyal, hardworking and so attractive.

These two together were just so much fun to watch. All the things I look for in a good romantic comedy, fun, banter, swoon and sexy were here. More than anything it's also find your own place and finding romance along the way helps too. What draws me to books by the author is that I feel like I want to soak in. Go on a new adventure with her characters. It has the feels, likable characters and relatable scenarios. Mixed in with some good vibes and laughter. I'm so smitten with this book and I can't help but feel delight over each scene. Once I started, I couldn't put it down. A heroine I adore and a hero that's swoony a winning combination. Add another favorite from Rachel. A perfect easy, beachy, vacation kind of read that will delight.

**ARC provided by author in exchange for an honest review**

I literally squealed when I found out that Georgie was getting her own book!! I absolutely fell in love with her in Settling The Score. And then to find out it was to be set in Italy!?! SIGN. ME. UP!

So if you didn't read Settling The Score #1, go read it, #2 This book can be read as a standalone, but we really get a great understanding of Georgie's character in Freddy and Andie's book. We learn that Georgie is a spunky and vivacious woman. She is hilarious in only a way that she can, but loyal and always the life of the party.

In A Place in the Sun Georgie jets off to Italy to find a man. What she finds is herself waking up in a dusty room after a long day of travels with no clue how she got there.

"Oh my Liam Neeson. I've been taken!"

Even after arming herself with chewing gum, ginger candies, peppermints and enough Dramamine to take down a horse, Georgie was worse for wears when walking into the town square of Vernazza. After passing out, two deliciously gorgeous Italian men came to her rescue and provided her with shelter. Enter Gianluca. And yes, his name needs to be italicized.

We learn very quickly that Gianluca is still healing from a very broken heart. He keeps Georgie at a distance, like he does with all the women in Vernazza. Georgia instantly falls in love with not just the picturesque little town, but all the characters that dwell there too.

One of my favorite things that are always a staple in RS Grey's books is that I fall in love with the side characters as much as I do with the main characters. I especially loved Georgie and Katarina's friendship as well as Massimo and Gianluca's brotherly love.

Gianluca and Georgie finally settle into a friendship that both want to make into something more, but Gianluca isn't quite ready to give up the ghost's hiding in his closet. We are taken along with them throughout their twisting and turning journey of finding love, happiness and their place in the sun.

I really ended up enjoying this book. With that said, I felt that there were just a few pieces missing along the way that I wanted filled in order to make a whole. I loved how Grey ended this book though. I was hoping for it to go there and she did. It made my smile from the inside out. I will be holding on to Georgie and Luca for some time!

4.0 out of 5 stars Grey did it again!
Reviewed in Germany on November 21, 2016
I’ve never been too keen on going to Italy, although it is only a roughly 3 hour plane ride away. But now?! Who of you wants to join me and explore Vernazza? I’ve googled it after reading the book and O. M. G! This Italian town is so beautiful! I am in love and I want to go NOW! :D

I was really looking forward to this book, because ever since I first read about Georgie in Grey’s "Settling the Score", I couldn’t wait for her story.
Georgie is as sassy, crazy and fun as she was in "Settling the Score". No wonder moody Gianluca had a hard time handling the always positive Georgie. :D

I think it was rather brave of Georgie to just move to Italy on a whim. I actually admire her! I have lived abroad for quite some time, I’m living abroad at the moment, but I always had a plan. I always knew where I was going and what to do. But Georgie just left and didn’t have a care in the world. <3
Gianluca is the polar opposite of Georgie but he actually has a good reason for being that moody and quiet. A lot of authors would have waited to reveal the main hero’s pasts to build up suspense and angst – not so this author! Gianluca’s past was revealed relatively in the beginning and I am so glad RS Grey did that! It was so refreshing!

Also, this novel has no insta-love, which I also appreciated. Thank you, Rachel! :) Isn’t it more fun to read about two people hating/not liking each other at first, then becoming friends and then later realizing 'Oh, we really really like each other!'? I love it!

Please, let us take a moment here to admire this beautiful cover… Have you seen the stamps on it?! Perfection! I can’t wait to own the paperback to put on my shelves! <3

If you haven’t read "Settling the Score" yet, don’t worry. You don’t need to read it to understand this story.
It’s almost October and it’s getting colder and colder every day over here. This novel brought back some warmth back, tho.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing...
Reviewed in Australia on October 23, 2016
I am enamored with this story and don’t want to pick anything else up for a while because I want to live in this beautiful place just a little longer.  The sun, beaches, and restaurants of literary Italy have completely captivated me.

It took a few chapters to lay the foundation, however A Place in the Sun is a nice, solid romance that keeps you on your toes the entire time. It's one of those books where at some point you are irritated with both leading characters and want them to just go away, but not really.

Georgie comes off as a spoiled rich girl looking to bide her time until the "perfect" man comes along to marry her. She's a bit of a woe is me character and it took a few pages for me to actually like or sympathise with her.
Gianluca was an ass. A complete and utter ass from the second he appears in the story. That said, there is a dark cloud surrounding him and I couldn't wait to see what was hidden in his past to make him so anti-social. It ends up being heartbreaking and instantly gives him a pass.

I really loved this book. From the easy transition of busy British life to the calm serenity of the sea side Italian town. The characters were uniquely written and intertwine with each other well. The location was absolutely amazing. I could picture every scene of this book because the attention to detail was excellent. As sweet as gelato and as sultry as a fine wine, this book really had it all! Completely recommend....5 stars....it was amazing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Une très agréable comédie romantique
