Sparks fly when a journalist and a Navy SEAL cross paths in Thailand in this third entry in the thrilling and sexy Alpha Crew series from New York Times bestselling author Laura Griffin.

Journalist Karly Bonham is on her first overseas mission, covering the new United States ambassador to Thailand, when she is taken hostage by terrorists, with only her wits and courage to keep her alive--until help arrives in the form of Navy SEAL Ethan Dunn.

As part of an elite SEAL team called Alpha Crew, Ethan has been on countless harrowing missions, but he knows this one is different the instant he meets Karly—the sexy young reporter who somehow managed to escape the terrorists’ clutches. Ethan is impressed by her, especially when he learns she has intel that could be the key to a successful rescue op. Ethan knows working with a civilian raises the stakes on an already dangerous mission. But with the clock ticking down, he enlists Karly’s help to thwart a vicious plot and bring a terrorist mastermind to justice.

Featuring Laura Griffin’s signature “heart pounding, nerve-jangling suspense, combined with sizzling sex” (
Fresh Fiction), Cover of Night is a fast-paced, romantic thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Laura Griffin never disappoints her readers and Cover of Night is no exception. Karly is a journalist on an assignment to interview the US Ambassador to Thailand at an exclusive resort. After accomplishing her assignment, she is enjoying her last day when terrorists attack the island. Karly has the state of mind to send a brief message asking for help. She then escapes the island by diving into the water.

Four members of the elite SEAL Alpha Crew recon team arrives in response to Karly's fast thinking. When Karly inadvertently finds the team's insertion point, she meets Ethan who becomes protective of Karly. She has intel that helps the team when it is forced to act before the rest of the team arrives. She also continues to assist the team through radio communication.

Despite the dangerous situation, the sexual tension between Karly and Ethan is instantaneous. When Karly and Ethan return to San Diego, their relationship continues although Karly is reluctant due to Ethan's frequent absences.

The action cranks up again when a known terrorist, with whom Karly innocently had a brief encounter at the resort, takes her hostage.Ethan comes to the rescue.

Karly is an intelligent, independent, and stubborn heroine.Ethan is all one expects in a SEAL. He is an astute, strong, trained man who willingly enters dangerous missions without thought of the risk to himself.

There is sufficient suspense and romance to keep the reader captivated.

Laura Griffin once again delivers a well-written book that will have you hooked from the first page. I finished "Cover of Night in one sitting.

I highly recommend Cover of Night.I also unequivocally her Tracer series to any reader who genuinely enjoys Romantic Suspense, that is, a balance between the two genres.

I received an ARC of Cover of Night.but it did not affect my review. As you can see, I bought the book!

From beautiful islands to terrorist attacks and back to mainland this story is full of military, political, news, intrigue and romance. The second Alpha crew member falls in love while on a mission and while he works to understand his emotions and get to know her they find out the danger is not over. Jake is present, as is the other crew members, but this story mainly focuses on the couple and events surrounding the danger. I like that the story was told in one book and not several parts. FBI Mays was back and showing her strength and kindness. A good read!

Laura usually gives you time to get acquainted with a story before the problems start, but not Cover of Night! Before you even get to Chapter 2, everything explodes - I was shocked and intrigued. I had to keep reading to find out what happens next. It's either a short book or I was turning pages so fast that it seemed to take no time at all. Karly and Ethan make a beautiful couple.

It was OK but not as wonderful as all Griffin's previous works.

This was a very well done novella. I was really excited to win a copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway because I have been wanting to try Laura Griffin's writing for some time. I discovered that I really enjoy her work. This story really did a lot in just a few pages and left me feeling very satisfied in the end.

Karly is a journalist spending time with a United States ambassador at a resort in Thailand. Things end up going horribly wrong when terrorists attack the resort. Karly's quick thinking may be what keeps her alive and her phone call at the start of the attack is what alerts others to what is happening.

This story started with a bang. There was so much action and I was in fear for Karly. She handles the situation a whole lot better than I would have been able to do. She meets Ethan, a Navy SEAL, during the rescue operation and they make a connection. That connection becomes even more intense when they run into each other later after everything is over.

I liked Karly and Ethan. Ethan was hard not to like. He was everything that Karly needed him to be during the rescue mission and was able to do what needed to be done. He was really willing to put everything on the line. Karly handles herself well under pressure but she does have some emotions to deal with when everything is over. I loved them together and thought that they had wonderful chemistry.

I would recommend this novella to others. This was an incredibly fast paced and action packed romance that had me turning pages as quickly as possible. I was completely entertained by Karly and Ethan's story and have plans to read more from Laura Griffin soon.

I won a copy of this book from a giveaway on Goodreads.

Griffin's Tracers series is my favorite, but this book kept me hooked from beginning to end. Her research is incredible and the details make everything real to the reader. I felt like I was on the back of a motorcycle in Manila! The heat between Karly and Ethan is amazing.

I enjoyed reading this book. Karly and Ethan meet in stressful circumstances. They developed feelings for each other but Karly is doubtful since she has been hurt before. Good ending for the story.
