About the Author

Maggie Huffman is a life coach, speaker and the author of the bestselling books, Whoops! I Forgot to Achieve My Potential and WTF?!? I Still Believe this Sh*t? Maggie spent more than 20 years in the corporate world. Granted, it was in wine, but it wasn’t all sipping and spitting! She led many large projects and cross-functional teams – many of them global. She had a unique career path, fixing a lot of broken systems, structures, and processes, which gave her access to a wealth of tools and metaphors. In her coaching practice today, she will use anything at all that helps her clients to take inspired action and fulfill their true and full potential. These things can come from the world of science (neuroscience, quantum physics, nutrition), from the land of corporate (project and change management, executive coaching, process improvement), the world of woo (visualizations, thought work, metaphysics), pop culture or just random fun things (humor, jargon, sticky notes and Tombo markers.) Maggie lives in a quirky, almost imaginary world that looks suspiciously like Stars Hollow (of Gilmore Girls fame), with a workspace straight from the set of The Good Witch, except that it is in Sonoma, California, where there really isn’t any snow. She thinks in a weird combination of metaphors, song lyrics and Excel.

Maggie Huffman is a life coach, speaker and the author of the bestselling books, "Whoops! I Forgot to Achieve My Potential" and "WTF?!? I Still Believe this Sh*t?" and most recently, "Oh Snap! My Career is in Crisis!"

Maggie spent 20 (mumble) years in the corporate world. Granted, it was in wine, but it wasn’t all sipping and spitting! She led many large projects and cross-functional teams – many of them global. She had a unique career path, fixing a lot of broken systems, structures and processes, which gave her access to a wealth of tools and metaphors.

I was fortunate enough to be an early reader of Maggie's new book, and I really enjoyed it!

I found myself in the waiting room with Gladys Kravitz and the other patients at the Career Crisis Clinic. You will most likely identify with one of Maggie’s characters you meet in the doctor’s waiting room early on, or perhaps you suffer from some symptoms of one or more characters. Treating your career crisis like a Doctor treats a patient, allowed me to really connect with the process and the treatments (recommended actions). Maggie intersperses humor throughout and I honestly felt myself relaxing, it was going to be OK. As if all of that is not enough, her work is based on real clients and real situations. She not only wants her patients (take that as readers) to get out of the crisis but to thrive and be happy. Ok so I thought, great another self-help book, so I dove in with an expectation of just having common sense restated, and I was quickly disappointed. Maggie writes like someone who has lived and survived in the corporate jungle and came out with wisdom and a flair for keeping me engaged through the whole journey. She does a masterful job of bouncing between corporate wisdom and career advice. It does not matter which of the career crisis’s you are suffering from, her advice will help you find clarity and develop a strategy to put a plan in place. So do the exercises and learn what’s holding you back and where you want to go, and most of all how to get there.

The author brilliantly captures all insecurities and puts them into the little corner they belong in, takes their power away and gives it back to us..the reader. She of course (if you have read any of her earlier works in her series) doesn't stop there, she then couples it with giving us the power of thought and action back. With her extensive career background and experiences, she has given us the gift of her own insights and proven strategies. This isn't your run of the mill Big Business veteran talking at us through text in a book though. Through the read I actually thought she was right there in the room with me letting me vent and spew out my frustrations, fears, and dare I say hopelessness. She talks to those fears through her writing, provides counterpoints, and most importantly provides a strategy that is actually viable. No more frantic fix for the moment tactics, no more suffering though it, no more biting the bullet because we have to..because we don't. I strongly suggest and urge everyone BUY AND READ IMMEDIATELY. If its applicable, this is the magic read, if you're happy with where you are.. read it anyway.

Just like one of the "patients" in this book, I found myself out of work after being with the same company for over 20 years. Even though I was grateful for the job it had become very stagnant and uninspiring. It was zapping my energy and joy. I desperately needed a change but I had no clue what I wanted to do next. A friend told me about this book and it turned out to be the perfect remedy to get me out of my rut. In this book Maggie Huffman gives you the steps and tools to take you from frustrated and sick with worry to a place of calm and clarity. What I learned from this book is you will not wake up one day and magically have a vision and plan for your next career move. There is a process to get to find that vision and make that plan. This book gives you that process. Maggie clearly explains these steps and why they work. I would recommend this book to anyone who needs a guide to getting out of a career rut.

Oh, Snap...It's not only the Army that can help you "be all that you can be!"
Write your review of Oh Snap! My Career is in Crisis! *
I loved this book! In "Oh Snap!” the author has again drawn from her own life experiences to provide tools to inspire us to rekindle the light that we were all born with to guide us toward our best selves. This not only is invaluable in making career choices, but in all aspects of our lives. She has done this with no judgements, no pressure, no preachy lecturing, but with loving encouragement, and the rousing enthusiasm of a cheerleader. Realizing that the journey from fear of the unknown and self deprecation to achieving empowerment requires curiosity, courage and lots of work, Maggie lays out a plan to help remove those stumbling blocks, sending us down the path we've blazed for ourselves to discover what floats our boat, makes us happy, makes a difference!
Just like the Army, Oh Snap encourages and inspires us to "be all that we can be!"

Although I am a young adult, and I am just starting my career, I found Maggie's book to be full of advice that currently applies to my life. It is easy to get caught up in the stress of trying to get ahead in one's career, constantly moving from one stage immediately to the next, that one forgets to pay attention to all the other important facets of life. This book made me realize that you are never to young to question the path you are on, and it is important to check in with yourself and make sure you are on a path to a well-balanced life! Her book helped me to properly plan out what I want from my career so that I did not make any rash decisions or suffer from "analysis paralysis." I would highly recommend this book to other young adults who, even though they are just starting their career, want to make sure they are on a path to a career that will compliment their lifestyle.

Brilliant!! Do we really need another self-help book? ABSOLUTELY!! This one is simultaneously funny and serious. It is real. There are so many thought-provoking questions, but Maggie doesn't leave you hanging! She provides a myriad of hints, tips, exercises and activities to help you unravel what is right for you and how to go about achieving it. I love her unique perspective - the way she intertwines much of the "corporate jargon" that so many of us are familiar with, but twists it to apply to our personal lives. It's definitely worth spending some time with this book.
