The Kardashians: An American Drama Kindle Edition
From the New York Times bestselling author of Crazy Rich comes a blockbuster unauthorized biography of one of the most famous and ubiquitous family dynasties in contemporary culture: The Kardashians.
Secrets and scandals of the Kardashians, so closely held that not even hard core fans have heard about them, are finally exposed in New York Times bestselling author Jerry Oppenheimer's forensic dissection of the infamous reality TV clan. From the curious life of patriarch Robert Kardashian, whose family meatpacking business was tainted by scandal, to “momager” Kris Jenner’s top-secret plan for the future, The Kardashians reveals the untold, definitive story based on two years of investigative reporting and scores of candid, on-the-record interviews, ranging from childhood friends to powerful business associates, who break their silence for the first time.
In the decade since the Kardashians first appeared on the scene, millions of speculative words have been written about their drama-filled lives. But most has been tabloid hype and gossip column fantasy. Until now.
Oppenheimer has written revelatory books on such international icons as the Clintons, the Kennedys, the Hiltons and more, and now comes The Kardashians, the true story that will make headlines and shock even the most loyal fans.

Editorial Reviews
Review
“We are in the able, busy hands of a veteran journeyman . . . The author of biographies of the Clintons, Rock Hudson, Anna Wintour, Martha Stewart, Barbara Walters, and other two-legged notables, Oppenheimer doesn’t doodle around . . .”
―James Wolcott, New York Times Book Review
“You probably think you know everything there is to know about Kim Kardashian and her siblings. But there is a little-known prequel―the twisted story of her parents Robert and Kris’ tempestuous marriage, which was marked by rampant philandering and scandal.” ―New York Post
"Oppenheimer, who has written unauthorized biographies of the Clintons, the Kennedys, and Martha Stewart, directs his lacerating attention on the Kardashians . . . Few in the family’s orbit are spared a takedown . . . those looking for a trashy late-summer read will find many juicy tidbits to feed their appetites." ―Publishers Weekly
“The author delivers with the origin story of the infamous crew. Anyone who has wondered how this ‘dysfunctional family with little to no discernible talent besides self-promotion’ became a cultural phenomenon will enjoy Oppenheimer’s take. . . . The book concludes with an overview of the current clan’s net worth and doings as well as a chilling prediction of what’s next for the ever ambitious Kris Kardashian Jenner: a run for the White House and the ultimate ratings grab.” ―Kirkus
"Oppenheimer, known for unauthorized biographies and exposés about pop-culture’s biggest stars, dishes
the dirt on the Kardashian family . . . well-researched and well-documented . . . anyone who watches the Kardashians’ TV show, subscribes to their tweets, and devours the tabloids will find just what they’re seeking and love every minute of it." ―Booklist

- Reviewed in the United States on September 28, 2017If you're interested in the shallow world of the Kardashians, you'll enjoy reading this book. If your kids want to read this book because they idolize the Kardashian girls, you've raised them wrong. The book is filled with interesting tidbits particularly about Kris. It appears well researched - and it is not at all flattering. I bought the book because I've always felt what Kris Kardashian has done to her children (except for poor Rob, he doesn't make much money for her so goes ignored) is a cardinal sin. To think what these girls could have done with their fame and fortune to work for the betterment of humanity, to support worthy causes, etc. - but alas so far, they have not. There is always hope. The book is a real eye opener.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 23, 2024OK , seriously , this is a difficult book to read. I’m not talking about the topic. Practically everybody knows about Robert Kardashian , his kids, his most famous ex-wife , everybody knows about Kris Jenner. But what I found out from reading this, it seemed like the author is not a fan of his subject. The writing , it’s hard to read. One, because he’s long-winded , two, because in my opinion, I felt that there was bias when this was written. It kind of spooked me when one of the topics was on O.J. Simpson , the whole chaotic ordeal of the infamous trial, and lo and behold, O.J. Simpson passes the week that I happen to read this book. It’ll be interesting to read another book by the author to see in comparison, if it truly was bias from the authors point of view. But I’ll have to tell you this, even with the opinions and the constant bashing, I can’t look away from each page . It lets you take a peek behind the curtain just a little bit.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 22, 2018This book was extremely hard to get through due to the lack of new information regarding the Kardashians. I found myself skipping pages because I've heard what was written time and time again. Money down the drain for sure!!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2017Although this book is interesting I have a problem when I find an error (or errors) regarding the information included in the book. It makes me wonder how much research the author really did and makes me suspect that some of what I am reading is not true. As an example of an error in this book, Mr.Oppenheimer states that Linda Thompson found Elvis in his bathroom when he died. I not only read about Elvis' death in many books but knew Sonny West at that time and it was Ginger Alden who actually was living with Elvis and was one of the first people to discover his body. This might seem like a small thing to bring up out of an entire book but it caused me to not trust what Oppenheimer wrote throughout. I have read other books by this author and hope that they were better researched than this one was. He claims that Kris Jenner is not truthful (which I do not doubt), but how do we know when Mr. Oppenheimer states incorrect information in his book about her and her family? Credibility is as important as interesting content in my opinion.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 19, 2018Liked the book although most of this I’ve read before in magazines or tabloids. Extremely narcissistic family but you have to admire their hustle, especially kris Jenner who started out as a housewife with just a HS education.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 9, 2024Great book about horrible family
- Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2017Despite the subjects surprisingly good. Focus is mainly on Robert Sr. and Kris.

2.0 out of 5 stars Rushed writing?
I've read and enjoyed other books written by this author. This one I found disappointing. My impression is that he didn't put as much time or effort into writing it. A lot of what he writes is information that's already known and a few statements he made are untrue.
