Left Hanging Kindle Edition
"Every character is unique and realistic, creating an environment a reader can get lost in, from page one to the very end." ~ Chick Lit Central
As a nurse and single mom, Darla Battle hides her loneliness behind a smile. But when she discovers that the new cute doctor everyone is talking about is her daughter’s father, she knows she needs to keep her distance from the man who abandoned her and their child, Stella.
When Theo Edwards returns to Nashville to finish his medical training, he never expects to run into Darla, a girl he spent one night with seven years ago. For reasons he can’t fathom, her attitude toward him is frosty, but he still hopes to ignite the spark they once felt.
Once Darla realizes Theo doesn’t know he’s Stella’s father, she has no idea how to tell him the truth. And the longer she waits, the more difficult it becomes. When the situation spins out of control, can the two come together for the sake of their daughter? Or is forgiveness out of reach?

About the author
Cindy Dorminy writes about love when it’s least expected. Quirky dialogue and sassy, southern heroines are a must in her romances. When she’s not in her she-shed working on her next novel, she enjoys walking her dog, gardening, and weightlifting. She shares her house with her musician husband, an awesome daughter, and a miniature dachshund who would eat all the food if he could figure out how to open the refrigerator. She resides in Nashville, TN, where live music can be heard everywhere, even at the grocery store.
Keep up with Cindy!

It's a bumpy ride for these two as they get to know each other again and try to right the wrongs of the past. I really liked Darla and Theo and felt for both of them as the story progressed. It did seem as though the fates were conspiring to keep them apart in the past, and the odds were against them in the present as well since there were so many misunderstandings and secrets between them. Of course, I was rooting for them to work through all of their issues because I wanted to see little Stella (the cutest kid ever!) get the family she deserved with both of her parents.
Sidenote: Like Theo, I am a Type 1 diabetic, and it's rare that I see a book character with this illness. I applaud the author for going there and really committing to portraying diabetes and all of its difficulties in a realistic manner. She didn't just use the illness for dramatic purposes; it was part of Theo's everyday life and affected everything he did.
There was a big medical crisis in the back half of the book that I thought was handled really well. The way it played out was very compelling and emotional, and it tied together the threads of family, friendship, and faith that were woven throughout the book. I shed more than a few tears as I read the final chapters and kept thinking about the characters and the story for days after I had finished it.
Left Hanging is a moving and memorable tale that I highly recommend, and I look forward to reading more from Cindy Dorminy whose writing really impressed me.
The humor is gentle, and the definition of love that Theo tells Darla comes straight from the Bible, and is beautiful. "First Corinthians's, Chapter thirteen, verses four through eight." There is good detail about being a single Mom, and also interesting facts about Type 1 Diabetes.
This is a feel-good, heartwarming, and enjoyable read!
