From Drift to Shift: How Change Can Bring True Meaning and Happiness to Your Work and Life Kindle Edition
In one form or another, change comes to all of our lives—often in way we couldn’t expect, catching us off-guard and leading to feelings of helplessness. In From Drift to Shift, Jody Miller collects inspiring true stories of people who faced unexpected obstacles and struggles only to change course, discover their passions, and come out on top of their lives with a renewed sense of self.
“There come multiple points in life when we have to make a shift in order to find true happiness and purpose, regardless of what others think. Whether you are a CEO or a stay-at-home parent, the stories in From Drift to Shift will inspire you toward an optimism that comes from facing your demons, your challenges, and the roadblocks along your path” (Brad Feld, from the introduction).

As this book puts it, we're often thrust into situations we didn't ask for, shaping who we become. The question is: do we accept our circumstances or forge our own path to success? This book shares the journeys of eight individuals navigating life's challenges and finding enlightenment in different ways.
From facing life-threatening situations to embracing new beliefs, change can happen suddenly or gradually. Their stories teach us to recognize signs of change and have the courage to move forward.
My favorite tale is the author's experience living in the jungle with an Amazon tribe, where hallucinatory visions provided guidance.
This book is easy to read and has an amazing, flawless, and perfect editing.
I give it a 4 out of 5 rating because it's a great read for those seeking inspiration and enlightenment through real-life stories.
While it offers valuable insights, it may not kickstart your journey.
Additionally, it could reflect survivorship bias and feel repetitive for some readers. Nonetheless, it resonates with my search for inspiration.
We learn from extraordinary men and women and “from-zero-to-hero” folks. These people processed the “sour” fruits of life and made lemonade. We discover how painful lives can motivate people to achieve great results and “beget” kindness and compassion.
In addition, the book explores the concept of archetypes, revealing that each of us has superpowers or spiritual gifts. The book can help us learn more about our spiritual powers and how we can nurture them.
Furthermore, the book contains adventurous experiences. For example, we learn about the author’s experiences with the Achuar tribe of the Amazon rainforest. The book offers a snapshot of the fascinating life of the Achuar tribe, among other things.
Moreover, the book provides questions and other mental exercises to help us make changes that can improve our lives.
The author is an excellent storyteller, and the book is enjoyable. “From Drift to SHIFT” can equally serve adults and young adults. I have nothing negative to say about it.
