Editorial Reviews

Review

"...a classic battle-of-wills romance reminiscent of Johanna Lindsey's medievals; it's a bit rough, and simmering with sexual tension...the strong-willed characters, well-drawn backdrop and traditional plotline are appealing and will entice readers familiar with the series and those craving a fun and tantalizing game of seduction and surrender." -- RT Book Reviews

Gwendolyn is accustomed to ruling Alvey...that is until Vidar, her new Viking Warrior husband, arrives in her life. Be prepared to keep fanning your face as these two clash and learn that love can be deliciously naughty and wonderful!

Ms. St. George has wrapped the Viking Warriors series up with a beautifully written story that compels you to continue to turn the pages to see what of kind of mischief Gwendolyn will create to get a spanking from her new husband. Be prepared to want a spanking yourself!

Set in 870 in Bernicia (generally, southeastern Scotland/northeastern England), this is the story of Gwendolyn of Alvey, a skilled crossbow archer, who leads her father’s men. She would prefer not to marry since the death of her betrothed, but her father's wish before his death was that she wed a warrior of the Vikings to secure peace for their people.

Vidar is a proud warrior who would rather be off fighting than being lord of a large holding, but he will do his duty and marry the difficult woman forced upon him. His brother, the Viking jarl, tells him he has a lot to learn about women. And so he does. Once they are wed, Gwendolyn thinks they will share a bed but nothing will happen between them. Right. Of course, Vidar proves her wrong and, surprisingly, acts the gentleman in the process. (It seemed like much of the story took place in their bedchamber.)

There are some exciting scenes with rebel bad guys roaming the countryside killing and burning and Gwendolyn comes to the rescue with her bow so that Vidar sees the value of a bride who is also a warrior who can fight by his side.

Though there are references to other couples in the series, this can be read as a stand alone.

The Viking Warrior's Bride (Viking Warriors #4) was the first Viking Romance book that I have read and I really enjoyed the story as well as the characters. In the authors note at the beginning of the book it is mentioned that the main character Vidar was also in the first couple books in this series so I am planning to back track and read them as well at some point because I would like to see more of him from when he was younger. The relationship between Gwendolyn and Vidar was really fun to watch develop and I enjoyed how the story came together at the end. I look forward to reading more by this author in the future.

Gwendolyn of Alvey is more than capable of defending her home. Unfortunately, before her father died, he signed a contract with the enemy and she is forced to wed Vidar, one of the enemy leaders. From the beginning, their relationship is extremely competitive. They compete on the field and in the bedroom. Vidar is determined to seduce her and the battle is on. Who will win? Maybe Both?

It was amazing to watch Vidar grow and change after his marriage to Gwendolyn. His concept of women and marriage took quite a reversal but so did Gwendolyn’s. Soon they both realized the arranged marriage could be so much more. They came to admire and trust the other and they would need that trust if they are to ensure their survival and that of their combined people.

Exciting, fast-paced and set during a time early in history, The Viking Warrior’s Bride is compelling, different and will definitely appeal to a wide range of readers.

OK but too many repetitive sexual descriptions. Otherwise interesting
