Editorial Reviews

Review

Wolfe (15 Minutes of Play) introduces quilters to five “parlor tricks” intended to expand their repertoire as well as build confidence with difficult techniques such as partial seams and Y-seams. Each “trick” begins with an overview of the technique, as well as examples from the author's collection and a small practice project such as a pillow cover or a miniquilt. A series of larger quilts exploring the technique follows. Most of the quilts include cutting instructions for a variety of sizes ranging from crib to king, and all include thorough instructions for piecing. VERDICT Wolfe is known for her remarkably intricate piecing, and this book helps intermediate and advanced quilters achieve a similar effect. Those who follow her advice will find themselves taking exciting risks with both color and piecing. ― Quilts and More

Love the quilts in this book.
This book is awesome! The instructions are clear, and it allows you to be able to make very complicated quilts with out the stress. I used the instruction for sewing together the herringbone pattern to make a quilt block that was entered into my State Fair. Received an honorable mention ribbon.

My mom got this book and I liked it so much I got one too. It has some really fun unusual quilt designs and she explains how to put them together in a fairly easy to understand way. This would be for a quilter who has a little experience, but doesn’t have to be a pro.

There are some stunning and unique designs in this well laid-out book. They are not for the faint-of-heart, but the methods are explained and illustrated beautifully, so construction of these designs is within reach for an ambitious advanced beginner. Once mastered, these piecing skills can be applied to other designs. If you are looking for quick and easy projects, skip this book; but if you like a rewarding challenge, you'll enjoy these projects.

I am a quilter. I purchased some fabric based on Gustav Klimt. I needed a "modern" or unique pattern that would showcase the material. This quilt designer had what i wanted plus many other ideas.

I have been reading every quilting book, looking at pictures trying to figure out how it was done. With the book, after skimming it on my initial run, I got it! I was not sitting there after thinking "I have no idea what you are talking about". It is so refreshing to read an instruction book ;on quilting) then wanting to just get to it. And the HUGE bonus, I made a mistake in my very 1st braid quilt. Don't want to rip seams or do it all over. Now, I can just remove mistake and insert new section!

I haven't made anything as yet, but reading the instructions leaves the impression that the piecing is a bit finicky. Clearly written, so I intend to give it a try.

Meine unbedingte Empfehlung!!!
