About the author
USA Today best seller Kim Lawrence lives on a farm in Anglesey with her University-lecturer husband, assorted pets who arrived as strays and never left, and sometimes one or both of her boomerang sons. When she's not writing or reading, she loves to be outdoors gardening or walking on one of the beaches the island is famous - along with being the place where Prince William and Catherine made their first home!

I debated giving this a 4.5 vs a full 5 - but the title's greatest potency is in its last 30 pages or so, and it really leaves you with an impact. I think fans of the genre will really love it. As a whole, the work trades greatly in the kind of melodrama and coincidence that some casual readers may roll their eyes at, but if they stick with it, its culmination may win them over too.
The only issues I found with it were that it *kinda-sorta* starts to drag or frustrate patience in its early final third, but one sees later that that was the author's "means-to-an-end". Plus, what I mentioned in the sentence I just wrote before last... You know, "everyone" in the story is of royal lineage, "everyone" is absolutely gorgeous, absolutely intelligent, utterly moral, with engaging/charitable careers as well - AND they are all going to a lavish ball/dinner in a city on the very night that city is on the brink of an adventurous rebellion, and so on, and so on - in other words, no "romantic" scenario is too much. Certain side characters are introduced and then discarded just so our mains have another "wild" moment of manufactured drama. It strains credibility and suspension-of-disbelief... HOWEVER...
As it all sinks in, there are aspects that end up delivering in spades. Our mains, while certainly surface-level perfect, do have some unique flaws, both skin-deep and otherwise that pay off brilliantly. The set-up of how they met and then run into each other in the book's first third is interesting and fun as they trade justifiable barbs at a party. The book has a wit and a spirit and a pay-off that provide thrills. I can foresee it becoming a new fan-favorite...!
When two years later they meet again and he wants to sleep with her again she's griping because he doesn't RESPECT her?
That is laughable. She acted like a slut that first time and she has the gall to say that she respects herself. No self respecting woman sleeps with a man she just met, the same hour she meets him. Especially a virgin!
Another irritant in this story is the fact that she falls in love with him despite there not being any kind of chemistry between them. She thinks him arrogant and hateful yet she finds herself in love with him. It's not love, it's LUST. I felt absolutely no loving connection between these two. Terrible story line
Additionally, this writer's writing style, as I've observed im other of her novels, makes for very difficult reading. She jumps around a lot, inserts the characters' inner musings in between their dialogue and changes their points of views suddenly, making it hard to follow along.
