The Foxe & the Hound Kindle Edition
A full-length STANDALONE romantic comedy from USA TODAY bestselling author R.S. Grey.
When your life is a hot mess at twenty, it’s cute. At twenty-seven…well, not so much.
It’s just that my lofty dreams—making it as a real estate agent, paying rent on time, showering daily—have stayed just that: dreams. Oh, and love? I’ve decided love might be a little ambitious for me at the moment. Instead, I’ve settled for the two guys who will never leave me: Ben & Jerry.
That is, until Dr. Adam Foxe takes up residence as the town’s new vet.
With his strong jaw, easy confidence, and form-fitting scrubs, it’s not long before every housewife in Hamilton is dragging neglected tomcats in for weekly checkups.
Like everyone else, I’m intrigued. Even after I spoil my chance at a good first impression, he still offers me a proposition I can’t refuse: play his girlfriend at a family function and he’ll hire me as his real estate agent. Welcome to love in the 21st century.
It’s too bad I underestimated Adam’s irresistible charm and the undeniable attraction that burns between us. The day he pins me to the wall and silences me with a kiss, the line between reality and ruse begins to blur. Every teasing touch brings me to my knees. Every kiss promises more.
It looks like my hot mess of a life is about to get a little hotter.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 1, 2017R.S. Grey’s newest release, The Foxe and the Hound, showcases Grey’s ability to infuse her romantic comedies with just the right amount of angst, steam, and quirkiness – a perfect combination that has readers swooning, laughing out loud, and highlighting one liners as Madeline and Adam’s story develops.
The life of Madeline Thatcher is quite the hot mess; every facet of it is filled with embarrassing incidences – ones where she makes a complete fool out of herself and then has to deal with the fallout, which simply creates one heck of a vicious cycle of chaos and leaves her feeling even more defeated and overwhelmed.
R.S. Grey created such a fantastic character in Madeline – one who is definitely flawed but one who also is an eclectic mixture of intelligence, confidence, cynicism, and wit. She’s a very relatable heroine and although, at times, she does seem to have multiple personalities, she still is an exceptional woman, which Adam Foxe is definitely aware of, even if his first impression of her is less than stellar.
In the words of Madeline herself, Adam is one “homo sapien perfectus”! And, even though I wanted to shake him at times because of his hot/cold demeanor with Madeline and the mixed signals he seems to send, his reasons for not giving into his feelings for her make sense and the process he goes through to determine the steps he should take with her are illustrated through his own perspective, so readers witness when he reaches his breaking point and attempts to take what he wants when he wants it.
The relationship that develops between Madeline and Adam is definitely not fluid, but based on the circumstances that surround them and their initial reactions to one another, it’s impossible for it to go smoothly. R.S. Grey does a great job of illustrating the ups and downs that both characters endure as they try to work out what the chemistry between them means and what they’re willing to go through in order for any kind of a connection to work.
I have to tell you that Madeline’s dog, Mouse, definitely stole the show throughout the story…as rambunctious and out of control as he is, he’s still so easy to love and it makes the interactions between him, Madeline, and Adam quite comical.
As a reader, it’s so easy to escape into the setting that Grey creates because I can relate to the small town nuances that are described in Hamilton, Texas. Its mentality is one that will resonate with many readers, especially those who grew up in such a place and have their own stories about everyone knowing everyone’s business and the hysteria that’s created when a new “eligible” bachelor moves into town.
I can’t get enough of R.S. Grey’s writing as well as her carefully crafted characters and story lines. She truly has a gift when it comes to the romantic comedy trope, and the fact that each story is unique and doesn’t follow a cookie cutter standard makes the stories she tells that much more powerful and entertaining.
4.5 Poison Apples
- Reviewed in the United States on June 6, 20174 - 4.5 Stars!!
OMG!! Refreshing, smart, fun and swoony, I LOVED this book!! It was just what I needed. My favorite R.S. Grey book since 'Scoring Wilder'. If you are looking for something totally light and sexy, this book is for you!
Madeleine is an adorable and quirky heroine who is trying her best to get her life together. As a somewhat unsuccessful realtor, she adores her giant dog named Mouse (cute, right?) and loves her family and best friend Daisy. But her love life? Non-existent. DOA. That is, until the new veterinarian Dr. Adam Foxe arrives in town. But the good doctor is coming off a bitter break-up and is cynical and not looking for love, etc etc. Until Mouse (and Madeleine crash into his life!)
They strike up a mutually beneficial deal. A fake dating arrangement to satisfy Adam's nosy family and he will buy a house through Madeleine. Let the hilarity (and hormones) ensue!
"No. No. A family barbecue is serious! This was not part of the deal."
"Technically, you agreed to do anything I needed you to do."
"That's when I thought you'd be asking me for a lung or something!"
"So you were prepared to donate an organ, but a family barbecue is suddenly too much pressure?"
"Don't try to be cute."
Adam's family is charmed by Madeleine. And who wouldn't be? She is a sincere and honest and refreshingly REAL MC.
“And you brought cookies?” she asks, eyeing the Tupperware in my hand.
“Freshly baked this morning,” I brag.
She turns over her shoulder to Adam, who’s following us into the house with Mouse by his side. “I love her already!”
I bask in her praise. After the months from hell I’ve had recently, this is a much-needed reprieve. Hell, if all else fails, maybe I’ll date Adam’s mom?
'The Foxe & the Hound" is a delightfully sexy story with the perfect amount of humor and heat. I loved the banter, the characters and the charming small-town Texas setting. I swear, R.S. Grey could be a TV comedy writer, that's how funny her dialogue is!!
"I want to take a pair of scissors to her loud highlights, but I misplaced the scissors I usually keep in my top drawer a few months ago. Instead, I’m forced to stand, hang up on Daisy, and follow Lori over to the conference room with pen and paper in hand. We’re the first two to arrive. She takes her usual spot beside Helen’s chair, and I pick a spot on the opposite end of the table. Her perfume is strong. Chanel number five, she told me once, bragging. Oh really? On you it smells like a number two.
This was THE perfect read for a summer day or a weekend at the beach. I fell in love with Adam and Madeleine and the fictional setting of Hamilton, Texas. Bravo, Ms. Grey!! Keep writing more books like this one.
“We should slow down,” I sputter just before his mouth falls to my chest.
He swirls his tongue around my nipple and my eyes pinch closed. Or, y’know, speed up even more."

5.0 out of 5 stars Sensational...
RS Grey is a one of a kind author who just delivers must read after must read! She has completely nailed the romantic comedy genre, as her humour, banter, couples, shenanigans, steam and curve-balls are forever entertaining.
After a bad break-up, Adam Foxe has just moved from Chicago to Hamilton, Texas to be close to his family and take over as town veterinarian. Sitting on a park bench lamenting his new small town life a huge dog covered in mud bounds towards him and literally knocks him over... Enter the dogs owner Madeleine. She's a bundle of energy a 27 year old real estate agent, living in a run-down apartment with her over-sized adorable dog (Mouse!), driving a beat up old car, she is a 'mess' by her own definition.
Being a small town, their paths frequently cross and these two together are HILARIOUS! The witty banter, the antics, the undeniable chemistry all make this a fantastic ride.
Without a doubt R.S Grey knows how to write great RomComs. Her stories are the perfect balance between chaotic fun and yet genuine and sweet as well. I simply adored 'The Foxe and The Hound' would be an understatement, it was the perfect mix of steam, laughs, angst and swoon... 5 Stars +

5.0 out of 5 stars Another gem by the amazing R.S GREY !!!
I can't get enough of her books !!!
In The Fox and the Hound you get to know better Lucas's sister and Daisy's best friend Madeleine. And the handsome new vet Adam Foxe !
I read this book in almost one sitting =) but I wanted to stay a little longer with the characters.
Adam is sweet, sexy and knows how to cook. Madeleine is messy, sarcastic and beautiful.
I don't want to spoiler anything so I'll just leave it at that haha
Just read this book !!! I recommend to read Anything You Can Do first since you'll have references about characters in the previous book.
R.S Grey is on my top5 authors, I will read anything she will write really ! Every time I read one of her books I am left smiling like a lunatic, laughing out loud and blushing all at the same time.
I don't know how Rachel does it but she is a beautiful storyteller and I can't wait for her next masterpiece !

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet & fun!!
OMG I read this book in one sitting because it is just that good.
Sometimes you need a light, happy read just like this one. I loved the thrill and anticipation of waiting to see if Adam and Madeline were going to hook up. They were such lovable characters & I just wanted something good to happen for them.
Adam has just moved from Chicago to Texas after a broken heart & to be closer to his family. After getting plowed down & being very gently mauled by a sexy brunettes dog he just keeps running into her. After being told by his mother that he is to bring a date to a family barbeque the first name to pop into his head is Madeline & thus ensues the escapades & back & forth banter between the two. Adam though is adamant that he is not ready for or looking for a person to share his life with but if that is true why can't he stop thinking about her.
This book is a perfect pick me up book if you want something to get you out of a book funk. It's funny & light & sure to bring a smile or two.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm just mad about Maddie
She's such a disajusted character, stumbling through life and it's struggles. After so many well adjusted heroines that are sure of themselves, it's amazing to see a girl with all quirks and insecurities most women face. And I can only hope I'll find a guy as patient as Adam in my poor life.
