My name is Audrey Johns and I would like to share my remarkable weight loss story with you.

I have been heavy my entire life, at my largest I was 275 lbs and a size 20. I hated how I looked and how I felt. I have tried every diet out there, South Beach, Weight Watchers, Atkins, sugar free, fat free, calorie counting, you name it I've tried it. Sometimes I would lose a little weight, but inevitably something happened, I gave up and gained it back plus more.

In 2011 I had enough of being fat, I hated that I was always the fattest person in the room. I started cooking 3 meals a day and enjoyed the ritual of cooking and taking better care of myself, but most of all I enjoyed the food. I taught myself to cook and with that how to lose weight.

I found that when I stopped eating all processed foods, anything with chemicals, preservatives and artificial sweeteners, and increased my water intake the weight just started to fall off! I had been struggling to lose weight eating frozen "diet" meals and diet sodas all day every day, eating under 1000 calories all along starving and gaining weight. Now I was eating real food every day and drinking lots of water. My calorie count went up to 1200-1400 and the weight flew off and has stayed off.

One year later I was 150 lbs lighter! I am now 120 lbs and a size 4, I look and feel amazing.

So many of my friends asked about my weight loss that I finally started my blog loseweightbyeating.com on New Years Day 2012 to answer their questions. I wanted to give back to people out there like me who have been searching for the right weight loss information. I want to tell people that a diet that leaves you feeling deprived is not a diet you be a part of because feeling deprived for the rest of your life is not a reasonable way to eat. I started by sharing my recipes, and in 9 months it has evolved into a Virtual Cookbook/ Weight Loss Book/ Cooking Channel.

I love this book because you EAT!! It’s not a starvation plan. I was not a smoothie fan after years of protein shakes. However, I love making my own smoothies where I control what goes in them. After just one day on the monthly detox, I feel so much better. Way less bloated and lots of energy!!! I can’t believe I was eating so much junk before. Her recipes are easy, taste great and the whole family can eat them. No “weird” ingredients. I feel like this is something I can stick with. That’s important because the number one reason I usually give up is because I feel like I’m on a “diet”. Thank you Audrey!!! Keep writing books!!

My husband, teenage daughter and I are on a mission to eat healthier. So we started out with the Detox week. When planning, it seemed daunting, especially the two all smoothie days. However with creative planning and use of the available recipes it was not difficult at all and we did not feel deprived. Audrey includes recipes that make you feel like you're cheating even when you aren't. As I was cooking I would often be thinking "this is going to be bland" due to a lack of all the extras we usually throw into our food. But these recipes are anything but bland. Everything I've made has been FULL of flavor! It's been wonderful.
After our detox week, which gave us results ranging from 7 to 9 pounds of weight loss across the three of us, we continued on with the general formula of smoothie, salad, meal from this and her other cookbook. Weight loss results have definitely slowed (as they should) but we are moving in the right direction. And honestly I feel fantastic. My body is definitely responding to the significant increase in healthy foods, fruits and veggies, and I don't feel deprived. You can absolutely tailor this plan to meet the cravings you encounter: there is both a skinny brownie and a skinny chocolate chip cookie recipe that are not as good as the original but totally work to quell those cravings. We started with this book, the detox week book. Quickly ordered the original Eat to Lose Weight book. And I'm getting ready to pre-order the Easy Dinners book. I really feel like these recipes have taught me a lot about how to cook healthier and will help my family to look and feel better without doing any crazy crash dieting. This is sustainable. And that is the main thing I want from a healthy eating plan.

This "diet" does work, and appears to me to be a well-balanced way of eating unlike some of the crazy diets out there today. The word "detox" made me pause because I do not think cleanses are a good thing and thought it was something like that, so I bought the digital version first to check it out. The author is referring to detoxing from additives and chemicals in your food and eating more natural foods such as fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables and not processed foods. The foods she suggests are easily bought at your local grocery store. I've tried a lot of the smoothies and they are good and easy to make. I haven't made a lot of the dinner type items yet, but plan on making more of them. By following her plan I did lose about 7 lbs. in the first week and have lost a little more by having the smoothies for breakfast and lunch and watching what I eat for supper. If you want to eat healthier and need to lose weight I recommend this book.

I bought this product 9 weeks ago and have already lost almost 20 lbs.! Just like Audrey, I have been on several diets from Atkins, Biggest loser, Jenny Craig etc. I lost weight on these programs, but have always gained the weight back and more. I too was tired of starving and getting board of the food, also my chloresterol and blood pressure didn't fair well on these diets. Biggest loser took too much prep time in the kitchen and the items were difficult to find at the stores. When I saw Audrey on Rachael Ray, I decided to try her method. The recipes are easy to follow, ingredients were easy to find at the store, and the food is very tasty. I don't like to cook, but her recipes have been fun to try and I'm learning a great deal about food. I love eating regular food again instead of the diet stuff. I feel more satisfied and I am consistently losing the weight now. No Yo Yo losing / gaining. I am so glad Audrey published her story and recipes! I bought her original book as well. I do hope she continues to publish her recipes. This is life changing for me! Thank you!

Love this book! So, I saw Audrey on Rachel Ray and I had ordered the book here on Amazon before the show had ended...I mean, healthy Chicken Cordon Bleu and Overloaded Baked Potatoes...and I could lose weight?? I was sold! I read it front to back, flagged all the recipes I wanted to try (and there were lots), made a grocery list and went shopping...all before starting the 1st detox week meal plan.I then made me a meal calendar to post on the fridge at home to help keep me on track with what I needed to prepare for the day as well as the next day if I could prep ahead of time. I will say...sticking to such a plan does take a lot of prep work and time, but seeing results makes it worthwhile. I am happy to say that I completed my first full detox week 2 days ago and had lost 8 pounds. I plan to continue for the month long detox plan and hopefully stay committed for the entire 3 month plan. I have tried other programs to teach you to cut out sugars and limit fats from your foods however they were a bit difficult to follow long term as they allowed no breads, pastas, potatoes, etc and unfortunately, those foods are my weaknesses. How wonderful that these things are incorporated into some of the meals...just small amounts and healthy versions!!! I definitely think that will help me stick with many of these recipes and substitutions. I had no idea Greek yogurt really worked well in place of sour cream and you cannot even taste spinach in the smoothies, so even though they look green and yucky...they taste fantastic!!! I have already recommended this book to many people I know!

Think this is more for a younger person I am in my 70's and it would be hard for me to drink a gallon of water a day - I am just now drinking 32 oz a day. Also some of the recipes show very high ratings for carbs and for a diabetic this would not work. But there are some good recipes and I will be trying them.

My girlfriend invited me over to her home and made one of the entrees in the book. I love it so much I asked her for the recipe, she showed me the book and I asked where she got it from, and was told Amazon. I ordered the book a few days later and very happy with it. The recipes are easy to follow and very delicious. I would recommend to anyone.
