The Daughter (Family Secrets Book 1) Kindle Edition
The international bestselling author delivers a gripping tale of family secrets, unfinished business and murder—includes the bonus novel The Night Women.
Widowed at forty, Ilka Nichols Jensen leads a modest, uneventful life in Copenhagen. Until unexpected news rocks her quiet existence. Her father—who suddenly and inexplicably walked out on the family more than three decades ago—has died. And he's left her something in his will: his funeral home. In Racine, Wisconsin.
Clinging to this last shred of family connection, Ilka makes an uncharacteristically rash decision. She flies to Wisconsin, hoping to find some insight into her father's life in America before preparing the business for a quick sale. But when she stumbles on an unsolved murder, and a killer who seems to be very much alive, the undertaker's daughter realizes she might be in over her head . . .
The Daughter was previously published as The Undertaker's Daughter.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2018This Story was fantastic! I especially loved how the author kept me guessing until the very end. I thought at one point, I had it figured out, was I ever wrong! I also loved the fact that I could personally relate to the places mentioned in the book, as Racine, Wisconsin is my hometown! I can hardly wait for book two to drop!

- Reviewed in the United States on February 9, 2018I'm saying this book is okay. After it winds along for 300 pages, and you get to the end--surprise! it's to be continued. Ugh. It was not interesting enough to want to read the next one.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2018This book was not at all what I was expecting. This is my first book by this author but she comes endorsed by one of my favorite authors Karin Slaughter so I wanted to give her a try. This is a new series set in America. Not a lot of mystery in this book, in fact the small mystery is more of a subplot. With all that said, I did really like this book. It had interesting characters and I just wanted to know more and find out what happens. I have some of her older books that are set in Denmark that I want to read as well. I'm hooked enough to want to read the next installment.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 3, 2018It was a good story but I didn't like the ending "to be continued" Because of that I wouldn't recommend it. I won't even pass mine on.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 13, 2019This was so different from the Sara Blaedel Louise Rick series that I was halfway through before I realized there was, in addition to the family drama in the plot, an actual murder mystery. Both stories, that of a girl coming to grips with her father's abandonment and that of a years-old murder, were gripping and came together well.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2018Very well written, interesting situation, characters who seem alive and whom you might want to meet, but warning! The book ends abruptly with "to be continued."
- Reviewed in the United States on August 21, 2018I absolutely hated the ‘to be continued’ end. I will never read this author again
