- Reviewed in the United States on May 1, 2018I grew up watching Full House and loved that show! I didn't care if the episode airing on TV was a repeat; I watched it because that show was amazing! In case you aren't already aware, Candace Cameron Bure played the character Donna Jo (DJ) Tanner, the eldest of the Tanner sisters. I knew that, in addition to starring in the show Fuller House, she had also written some books but I knew nothing about them. Then I saw this new book. Kindness has always been something that's close to my heart and I've been working on it even more this year! I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book so I ordered the hardcover copy since I have a friend who likes to read the same books as I do and I often lend her my books. Plus I had a feeling this book wouldn't be just a one-time read!
Kind is the New Classy is a Christian-based inspirational book written by Candace Cameron Bure, who is very strong in her faith and someone we can all learn from! This book is about more than just being nice to people and moving along with your day. Kindness is a lifestyle choice, one that has many benefits to everyone involved when used to its full extent. Kindness isn't only about being kind to others; it's also about being kind to yourself and once you do that, showing kindness will come more naturally to you.
In this book, Candace teaches us what kindness looks like and the many ways you can extend kindness to others as well as yourself. She includes many anecdotes about the ways she has shown kindness and how she's learned from her life experiences. She includes many stories of her time on Full House, Fuller House, and The View and I feel that we really get to know her as a person, not just a celebrity. When she tells these stories, she includes many Scripture references and it's evident she's extremely strong in her faith.
This book is 266 pages long and is divided into ten chapters and also includes two appendices. It's categorized as a biography/autobiography book and I'd like to add that it's very much a religious and inspirational book as well. There are many, many times when Candace talks about God and includes Scripture and I loved this. It's such a breath of fresh air when you discover a celebrity who is so strong in their faith and true to themselves no matter what.
Words cannot describe how much I LOVE this book! I cried during several parts of it because it's clearly written from the heart and I could feel my emotions stirring many times while I read it. I've learned a lot from Candace and I want to re-read this book again and again so I can learn even more about a topic that I'm so passionate about! I've already recommended it to others and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn how the power of kindness can affect everyone's lives. Buy this book for yourself. Buy it for a friend. I don't buy as many books as I used to since I borrow many from the library and many books I only read one time but this book was worth every penny I spent and then some! I've already ordered another one of Candace's books and want to read everything she's written. I admire her for her courage to stay true to herself and for writing such an amazing and powerful book!

- Reviewed in the United States on January 1, 2025"Kindness is the New Classy" by Candace Cameron Bure is a fantastic book! Reading it felt like I was sitting across from Candace in a coffee shop talking about life and faith.
Candace's challenges have inspired me to be more kind. Her words have convicted me regarding my own selfishness. And she identifies the Source of that kindness is not me, but Christ's Spirit in me. I am excited to see the changes in my life in the new year. And I recommend this book to anyone who needs a good read. Even if they've already read it. Enjoy some coffee with Candace, today.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2018This book is so real and so raw! I love how Candace isn't afraid to be honest about her shortcomings and times when she wasn't 100% together. This makes it easier to relate to her. She discusses her time on "The View" and situations where others weren't so kind to her and what her response was. Everything she says in the book is Scripture-based. The book feels as if she is sitting down and having a conversation with you face-to- face. This is a fierce woman who is not afraid to stand up for Jesus, as well as her own political beliefs. One of the things I like best about the book is how Candace drives home the fact that as Christians, we are to see others as made in God's image as well. This will help you change your perspective on them and have instant compassion. That's so important and so true! She uses the HALT acronym in Chapter 5 and this is something I try to do as well. HALT= hungry, angry, lonely or tired. It's best to not respond to negativity when you are feeling these ways.
This is a wonderful book and Candace is a fine example of kindness and class in action. I highly recommend!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2022Candace Cameron Bure has written a book, drawing from her own life experiences and her faith, on how to approach life from a place of kindness. I would also say positivity in so much as it feels like she encourages actions that will remove drama and negativity/negative influences/experiences from your life.
As a Christian, I related to a lot in this book, and as someone who is constantly striving to be a better, kinder, more understanding and forgiving person I felt this was a good read for me.
I have quite a few friends of other faiths, as well as Christian friends who do not carry their faith in such a prominent place in their life and conversation, and I found myself wondering how comfortable they would be reading this book. The very passages that reminded me of lessons learned in Sunday school as a child had me doubting I will recommend this book to my nonreligious, and non-Christian friends, which is a shame as I think there are a lot of wonderful things in here.
Mrs. Bure addresses how to talk to your child when they are physically near the breaking news on TV, different approaches and how each might feel... as well as a parent's hope that they have succeeded in being there for their child. Blended with her concept of kindness is caring and support... all qualities it can be hard to know we have expressed/shared in a way others needed in trying times.
All in all, this is a good book, with a lot of good thoughts/material, but I'm tempted to go back and see if I overlooked it being listed as a Christian/religious book, as having that in mind when I started reading would have given me a better reading experience.

3.0 out of 5 stars Muss man nicht lesen.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm not a christian but still took a lot away from this book.
I am an atheist but I am a huge fan of Candace and I believe in kindness and treating people well. I enjoyed the parts about Candace's experiences and agree with a lot of her philosophies, just not the religious parts. I enjoyed this book and it definitely made me think.
