Nexus (Zeroes Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 220 ratings

X-Men meets Marissa Meyer’s Renegades when New York Times bestselling author of the Uglies series Scott Westerfeld teams up with award-winning authors Margo Lanagan and Deborah Biancotti in the final book of an explosive trilogy about six teens with unique abilities.

The Zeroes are in disarray.

One of them has vanished. One of them is in prison. The rest are on the most-wanted list. And something big is brewing.

Accused of murdering Swarm, Bellwether is in a high-security prison, isolated and unable to use his powers of influence. Flicker, Crash, Mob, and Scam are on the run as suspected domestic terrorists. And Agent Phan of the FBI has a secret weapon up his sleeve—a teenager with a superpower that the Zeroes haven’t encountered yet.

After a daring breakout, the group is drawn to New Orleans, where celebrating Mardi Gras crowds promise enormous power to anyone who can channel it. There, an army of Zeroes is gathering around a charismatic leader—whose plans are nothing short of cataclysmic.

Time is running out for the Zeroes, but they must learn to trust one another again if they want to avert the looming disaster.

After reading Zeroes and falling in love with it, I read Swarm, and I was disappointed
That was until I found out there was a third book, I took some initiative and reread the first 2, it turns out I actually loved Swarm, I just forgot a lot about what happened, and apparently never even properly read the end

Once I got Nexus, I was very excited, new powers, new goals, and more adventures with the Zeroes
The book takes some very interesting takes on powers. Including more powers, powers levelling up, turning inside out, and meeting more powered people in general. Including mysterious plans a very special Zero has in New Orleans that could change the world.

Overall I rate the book 5/5, and the series as a whole 5/5, the details were spectacular as always, uses of powers interesting, unique, and always done well. And most importantly, it ends the story in a very unexpected, but satisfying way. In particular it helped wrapping up a mysterious question about one of my favorite characters.

Are you serious, I use it for firewood isn't that its intended purpose? Lol Come on it's for reading and my Son enjoys reading. I only wish I had time and his passion for reading. It was a great book for him. He took only one day along with his other activities, to read this book. With my obligation I have taken a couple of weeks to read it. It give me as a father raising a child alone great pride seeing him have such passion for reading. He started out with great difficulty in this world. He's overcome it an excelled in all he does. What a true gift from God he is to me. To see a positive effect and never looking back at his challenges, he has truly accomplished his goals .

This was written, I’m sure, for people younger than I. But my inner teenage loved it. I’d be happy if this was truth instead of fictional.

Every time I finish a westerfeld series I end up wishing there were about 70 more sequels coming. But overall it was an epic end to the series. Just hoping he pulls another Uglies trick and sneaks a fourth book into the trilogy.

My favorite of the three books
I savored every revelation and insight into the human condition as revealed through the journey of the six young protagonists

I love the zeros series my favorite being the first book that second book was great to but felt a bit too serious the third book is good haven't more of the adventure type vibe like in the first book and keeping some of the seriousness of the second my only problem was the ending which felt quite forced in my opinion

My favoret parts were with The Voice being all powerful and stuff, super cool. I liked the ending, but it felt a little to choppy and fast.

This was better than book 2 but a bit disappointed in some characters, like Nate. And for Flicker claiming to be the "leader" she sure didn't so much for them lol
And it sucked that Crash still felt like she or her friends were some kind of monster for stopping villains who really would be more than willing to let mass murders happen 😕
But I loved Ethan and Sonia's side story and just Ethan's and Thibault's stories in general.
Plot was pretty good, though again, hate that some of the characters were so easily swayed but still can't deny it was an interesting story. The ending was a bit dissatisfiying for some characters but also like what the future holds for others. So solid 3 stars for me.
