This is a prime example of my least favorite type of cookbook: no list of recipes to be found anywhere. Why do I want to have to dig every time to find recipes? I purchased this on sale and will probably keep it; just be warned that if you are looking for a cookbook with easily accessible recipes this most likely is not it. Would give it 2 1/2 stars if I could...

Bought this book for my niece who's a good high school age baker. After looking at a number of baking books at the store, this one was head and shoulders above the rest. It has tips and techniques blocks throughout the book. Love it. I use a lot of recipes from the Internet, but you need a good cookbook to compare recipes to, so you can figure out if the proportions are correct, how many dozen they'll really make, etc. Still looking for a good general cookbook of the same type for my younger relatives.

I baked a few recipes from this the same week I received it...and continue. My family thinks I should open a bakery! These recipes are easy to follow and there are alternative ideas if you don't have certain tools. In addition to yummy dessert recipes, there are also some meal and appetizer recipes like samosas, quiches.

I didn't know what to expect with Good Housekeeping recipes but this cookbook offers everything baking from simple cookies to pie crusts, cakes, cream puffs, and even challenging puff pastry. The recipes are easy to understand and offers different variations on various recipes. Definitely a keeper.
