Winner - National Excellence in Romance Fiction Award

A Whimsical Tale of Fantasy and Romance

It’s been one of those weeks for Joy.

One night she’s in the middle of dyeing her hair, the next dueling wizards zap her New Jersey town’s power grid with red lightning.

Then a troublemaking, ditsy fairy shows up in her home. A fairy!

Followed by a handsome man suffering from a damsel-in-distress curse who pops into her kitchen.

And she still has lesson plans to write and papers to grade. What’s a teacher to do?

If that wasn’t bad enough, a magic mirror sucks her to the secret fantasy town of Peace & Prosperity, home of the handsome mayor and the fairy. The place is under a spell, thanks to the dueling wizards, and only she, a person with no magic, can save everyone.

And that’s just the beginning of her week.

Will she ever get rid of that pesky fairy? Will she ever find a way home? What is she going to do with the sexy, hot mayor of a town that has dwarfs, elves, and trolls running around? She can’t deny his kisses cast their own sensuous form of magic, tempting her to give up her ordinary life and home and stay with him. But she still has to get to that horrendous morning meeting with her principal who disapproves of her innovative teaching methods. Not to mention the wizards are still dueling, still creating danger for Peace & Prosperity.

But, wow, that good-looking mayor sure can kiss.

About the Author

Liz Roadifer is an award-winning author who loves putting twists in herstories. Born in New Jersey, 14 miles from New York City, she now liveswith her family in Wyoming.

The seeds of my YA dystopian/sciencefiction story were planted while I lived on the Wind River Reservationin Wyoming for six years. Both of my children were born while we taughtin the school there. It was a privilege to live among such amazingpeople whose traditions, family, and tribes are a mainstay for all whocall the Wind River home. The tribes created in this story are aconglomerate of the many Native American nations in our country.

As for why I write in the other two such different genres, the answer iseasy. My brain needs balance. After months writing a fast-paced thriller about murder and mayhem, danger and testy relationships, it's nice totake a mental vacation and write about love and humor, magic and mayhem. Yes, mayhem is a constant because without conflict a book would beboring. At least in my romantic fantasies, the mayhem isn't sohard-edged and desperate. Plus it's fun to visit the magical town ofPeace & Prosperity and explore its wide range of eccentric andmythical citizens, its back alleys, crazy laws, and fantastic shops. One never knows who or what is waiting around the corner. With pesky, playful, fun-loving fairies around, it's never a dull moment.

Liz Roadifer is an award-winning author who loves putting twists in her books. Having written over twenty-one stories, she currently writes in three genres. She enjoys the grit and mayhem of her psychological thrillers, The Oracle Suspense Series, along with the give and take of its two main characters, Gillian and Sam.

It’s fun switching to her fantasy romance series, Peace & Prosperity, and the love, humor, and magic that its main characters deal with. With pesky, playful, fun-loving fairies around, it's never a dull moment.

She’s excited about her YA science fiction dystopian trilogy, Wind Riders of R.A.H.M. Morning Star’s dangerous quest to find her two older brothers, who flew away on the Wind River and never returned, is full of action and adventure, with the twists and mayhem that her readers have learned to expect from all her books.

Born in New Jersey, 14 miles from New York City, she now lives with her family in Wyoming.

The Trouble with Fairies starts with a bang when the town of Peace and Prosperity is caught up in a wizard duel, lightning bolts flying. At the same time, a thunderstorm in New Jersey kills the lights in school teacher Joy Flint's house just as she hears an intruder. Her panicked call to her brother somehow is conveyed to Peace and Prosperity Mayor Harradorn Lawson. If he ignores a cry for help, he'll be destroyed. And thus begins the fast-paced, dangerous, and funny adventures of two smart characters who just might be made for each other...if they can figure out how to deal with complications, prosaic and magical. Trolls and fairies rub elbows with a Cyclops and his family in Peace and Prosperity. Joy's brother Mike is as forbidding as a troll when he catches sight of Harradorn's interest in his sister.
Roadifer has an acute eye for the similarities and differences in the lives of these two characters who live in two different worlds, but who only have eyes for each other. This is the first in what is sure to be a popular series.

I've never been a fan of romantic fantasy; but since Liz is married to my cousin, I wanted to read her book, mostly out of curiosity, but also to support her writing efforts, and was pleasantly surprised to find it to be an exciting and delightful tale. I look forward to reading the next book.

I loved this book from the first page to the last. Peace and Prosperity is a secret, magical town in Montana (that may have me scouring the state to figure out where this wonderful place could be), and the story opens with the hero dealing with an electrical storm caused by dueling wizards. The storm leaks into the ordinary world of New Jersey where the heroine lives. These two worlds are not meant to intersect, but they somehow do. You know you're in for an unusual world and a fun read when the hero's assistant is a twelve-foot tall cyclops and the heroine is in the middle of dying her hair purple when she meets the hero. She is forbidden because she's from a different world, plus he has his hands full with the chaos of a wizard feud that could permanently harm the world. He's perfect for her, but cursed with a need to rescue damsels in distress, which she was when they met, so how can she know for sure? Plus, there's the matter of a mischievous orange fairy who hitches a ride to New Jersey.

If you are looking for a whimsical, feel good story, this is it. Remember a time when you believed magic was possible? That's the journey the heroine of this story finds herself on? Does she dare believe anything is possible, or does she settle for the mundane, safe, ordinary?

I picked up a paperback copy of this book at a meet and greet with a number of authors. I'm glad I did. The absolutely charming story of the towns of Peace and Prosperity, and the shenanigans of the inhabitants of that world as well as our own, was a great escape. Humor, romance, dueling wizards...what more could you want?
