What a tantalizing snippet of a prequel this was to Willow Winters' Forget Me Not. Light on details, it was meant to be nothing more than a raw and chilling tease to rouse interest in the book. So much dark erotica involving a captive situation tends to blend together these days, with nothing fresh that sets stories apart. Just the first few pages had me making all kinds of false assumptions about the situation and characters, which were left intentionally vague. But, almost immediately, a surprise twist wiped that smug smirk right off my face, when I was convinced that I knew exactly what was happening. Those short pages revealed so much without revealing much detail at all. I felt the loneliness of captivity; the tangible fear toward a cruel abductor; and the gripping terror of survival and hopelessness of escape – but no idea what it was actually about or where the story was headed. What made this so intriguing were some well-delivered revelations. The moody atmosphere made me feel like a fly on the wall watching a mystifying and terrifying train wreck. As a prelude to the main book, that technique captured instantaneous interest to know more. It starts out in a place made for nightmares and monsters, which is undoubtedly just the tip of the iceberg of things to come, so it's fair to say that the book is definitely on the DARK side. Offers a touch of the book's flavor -- enough to decide whether to continue with the story. My interest was piqued for answers.

Run don't walk. This is a 2025 must read.
This is the first W Winters book I read and I am in love with her writing style.

Jay 14 yrs abused by his father, ready to give up on life.
Wakes up finding out his father has kidnapped Robin 12
    years.
Jay vows to protect her from him at all costs.
Father knowing Jay will stay alive for her abused his power of control to keep torturing his son.

I immediately ran to libby to get Forget me not!
    I'm hooked!

I will not restate the plot nor reveal any spoilers in this review.
Usually a prequel gives you an idea of whether the following book is of interest. In this case, Something To Remember (a prequel to Forget Me Not) is not a book to my taste. It is classified as a dark romance but its subject matter is too dark for me. Without giving away any spoilers, Something To Remember is a lead-in and, therefore, is not a stand-alone book. Unless you enjoy a dark romance and have intentions to read Forget Me Not, my advice is to pass this one by. Willow Winters writes well and this book is a thriller. Forget Me Not may be a romance with very dark undertones, but this book is dark with no romance.

Good, quick introduction to the main characters in Forget Me Not, explaining how their lives became entangled. I enjoyed reading about the bond that was beginning to form between John and Robin. The protectiveness John felt for Robin before he knew anything about her proves that there is an innate goodness in him. Robin is vulnerable and scared, but there are hints of her backbone showing. This taste of their story left me eager to read Forget Me Not, so I can find out how their story continues.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. This is a prequel to Forget Me Not and you will not want to miss out on this book. Definitely read this before Forget Me Not to give you a look into Robin and Jay’s past and the crazy world that his father created and what they had to endure. Jay is Robin’s protector now and he will do anything to keep her safe. This story is emotionally charged, dark and twisted, it’s a definite must read for me. Willow has such an amazing way to bring these two souls together and bind them in such a way that you feel so much for them. Wow, just wow! I highly recommend this book and Forget Me Not is a must read after this prequel which will be out soon.

Wow what a prequel, Jay grew up a victim of severe abuse from his father, when Jay became defiant, his father kidnapped Robin, now Jay does everything in his power to protect her.....

This was amazing to read and gave insight to the beautiful story of forget me not..

I truly can't wait to see where Jay and Robin's story evolves to and on what level the scars remain skin deep or purely on a cellular level.....

    Beauty in the madness
