Nice illustrations of great recipes. All user friendly.

Some are great recipes and some I would never serve, but I don't do sweet things and that is the reason. One recipe I didn't like was the greens using escarole. Yuk, but the Sicilian Salad....Yum. This book will keep you within your diet guidelines.

I love to cook wholesome and good ol' fashioned family meals: roast chicken, stuff pork chops, soups, stuffed seasonal vegetables, pastas, ravioli, lasagna, pulled pork. homemade cinnamon buns, etc. I grew up on a farm and ate well but simply...but 60 years later I am a city girl who still likes to eat well. However, my lifestyle does not expend the same energy that country living did but my appetite and cooking style did not change with my lifestyle and station in life due to my age ( 62 at the moment). I bought the books based on the GH magazine that I have loved forever and a day. The twists are simple adjustments to what I have been making but worthy changes. For example, I made bar-b-que pork sandwiches the other day and normally we slather them with a heap of coleslaw. I made the GH cole slaw recipe and I LOVE it more that the normal vinegar/sugar/mayonnaise based dressing. I will need to re-learn instead of going on auto pilot but the flavor punches are great and fresh and YUM...give em a try!
