For most of us, life feels like a movie we've arrived at forty-five minutes late.

Something important seems to be going on . . . maybe. I mean, good things do happen, sometimes beautiful things. You meet someone, fall in love. You find that work that is yours alone to fulfill. But tragic things happen too. You fall out of love, or perhaps the other person falls out of love with you. Work begins to feel like a punishment. Everything starts to feel like an endless routine.

Life happens. But. It does not happen to you!
    You happen to it!
    We r not victims !
For everything that happens in life there is a decision I can make that will make the outcome manageable. Poor decisions: sad consequences. Good decisions : Happy Consequences.

Wonderful book, I bought 2 and gave one to an outdoor type friend. Recommended to outdoor types. It is old, but the dated references make it more interesting.

I first read this book nearly 50 years ago. I put much of the advice to use in the Boy Scouts, as a Scout, and many years later as a Scout leader. I just found my copy again when cleaning out a closet at my mother's house. It is like a hidden treasure that I look forward to rereading again. It is jam-packed with practical, useful information about being in the woods. I have read many other outdoor books, but this is still my favorite.

This book is filled with useful information, not philosophy. And not the author's feelings or opinions. I learned a lot and it was also a good refresher for those things I already knew. This author uses this book to teach, not preach.
