Review

"Jhené Aiko is transforming her pain into poetry." (People)

"Her poetry book,
2Fish, will serve as a healing tool not only for herself but for others." (The Source)

"The entire project is a brave effort by Aiko that will undoubtedly become a source of comfort for those who are looking to share their own personal journeys. 'Writing poetry has always been a form of therapy for me and has helped me get through difficult situations. When no one else understands, out journals can understand,' Aiko said." (Complex)

"Her poetry reads like unfiltered diary entries, like when you had a crush in school but that person never has the slightest clue. There’s talk of getting plastic surgery, and feeling like she’s never enough for anyone or anything. The 29 year-old also fixates on those pubescent inchoate teenage feelings of inferiority. Nonetheless, it’s a collective sentiment even the most beautiful exhibit." (Vibe)

I love Jhené so much. Happy to have purchased her book. It's smaller than I thought but that makes it easy for me to carry in my bag when I'm on the go.

This poetry book is a perfect mixture of illustrations, notes, stories, and, of course, poetry. I've found myself going back to this little book time and time again to skim through it, rereading poems and admiring the drawings and illustrations. The poetry itself is very unique and relatable, putting the reader back into their troubled years of being a teen or young adult. I recommend this for both casual and avid readers; well worth the time and money.

Love love love Jhené Aiko! I’ve been searching for her poetry book everywhere and I am so glad I found it. Inside are full poems written by Jhené as well as copies of handwritten poems/spoken word that made it to her albums. It’s small enough to fit in my purse or bag so whenever I need, I can pull it out and read a page from it to calm down or manage my emotions.

    *** 2Fish: A Poetry Book ***

I really liked her style and I really liked her book.

Poetry is a must for me,
that's why I got her book.

    She's a first time author,
and this is her first book.

    Thank you,
    for expressing yourself,
    to make others look.

    She's very encouraging,
    In all her ways...

    Sometimes people,
    never hear or say:

    "i shouted to the stars

    but there were no answers

    i called out to God

    you were there"

So, all the best, and to your Great success.

I read these a few at a time. I love them. My teen daughter keeps swiping it. It is a simple, deep, read from a beautifully complex and talented artist. I found it on Instagram, which is the only productive thing IG has ever done for me. I love music, i love poetry, i love books - this is the best of all 3. It is a versatile book, my 14 year old read it, my 20 year old stole it from me twice. I keep it in my bag & pick open it every time i find a few free minutes to indulge in an espresso & art break. It is the perfect reset to my day.

I have been a fan of her music ever since I 1st heard Sailing Souls and have been hooked ever since. As a Pisces myself, I felt an emotional connection to her lyrics. Our stories are similar. She was able to express and put into words the same feelings I was feeling. Though I don't know her personally, I feel as if I do. This book is an inspiration. It gives me courage to speak my truth and conquer my fears. Thank you ever so graciously, Jhene. You are a Goddess in the flesh.
