For three generations of women, a summer on Martha’s Vineyard brings family drama, new beginnings, and a second chance at love in this heartwarming novel.

Lauren has the perfect life . . . if she ignores the fact that it’s a fragile house of cards, and that her daughter Mack has just turned into a teenage stranger.

Jenna is desperate to start a family with her husband, but it’s . . . Just. Not. Happening. While her heart is breaking inside, she’s determined to keep her trademark smile on her face.

Nancy knows she hasn’t been the best mother, but how can she ever tell Lauren and Jenna the reason why?

Then life changes in an instant, and Lauren, Mack, Jenna and Nancy are thrown together for a summer on Martha’s Vineyard. Somehow, these very different women must relearn how to be a family. And while unraveling their secrets might be their biggest challenge, the rewards could be infinite.

Lots of heart and romance
I received this book for free from the publisher (Harlequin) as part of their bookstagram publicity campaign. I loved this book! A blurb on the back of the book from fellow author, Jill Shalvis, describes this book as being “Jane Green meets Sophie Kinsella.” I haven’t read anything by Jane Green but I definitely got a few Sophie Kinsella vibes from this (I love Sophie Kinsella if you didn’t already know). One of the characters, Lauren, lives in London at the beginning of the book, which reminds me a lot of Sophie’s characters. A large part of this book are the secrets and the fallouts that happen when they get revealed and I thought they were handled perfectly. I loved how the secrets were revealed one at a time. They were spaced out nicely and woven throughout the story. This book is about three generations of women, which is a trope I love reading about and it was very well executed. All the women were fleshed out and felt real. I liked that we are given all 4 perspectives because that allows you to really get to know the characters and their feelings. I know some people had issues with the perspective changes but I didn’t have any issue with it and didn’t find it confusing. There is romance, but the main focus of the book are the familial relationships, and I liked how the romance didn’t overshadow that. There was a nice balance between the two. Overall, this was a wonderful piece of women’s fiction with a lot of heart and romance.

The ties between sisters is truly a beautiful thing and this story of love, life, and loss in one family and how they rely on each other to come through reminds me of how families should be.

This book begins with four ladies, from a teenager to a grandmother, experiencing very negative events in their lives. It then follows their lives as they navigate their way through the changes and upheaval.
They each experience different types of problems, and the author writes about the issues, and how each of them works through their issues as well as how they help each other through the problems.
I enjoyed this book, and enjoyed reading about their personal growth. I highly recommend it.

For the most part, I enjoyed this book but did find it predictable and somewhat repetitive. The family members not only kept secrets but were dysfunctional and sometimes annoying. One thing that irked me was that, if you decide to get rid of a lot of historical items, why not donate them to a museum? Loose ends were neatly tied up and suddenly the book ended!

What is a secret? Who can you tell and who can you not tell? Is it ok to keep a secret from your family? From your husband? From your kids? These are the questions that come to light throughout this novel by Sarah Morgan. These questions and secrets take hold and play a huge part in the lives of the three women in this book; Lauren, Jenna, and Nancy. I loved meeting these women and felt their characters were well developed. Shout out to Mack who steals a scene or two (or every scene she is in!).

Another great read from Sarah Morgan.
