4.6 out of 5 stars 26 ratings

Professional money manager, Jim Peters, a committed husband and father of three, is experiencing a critical crisis of confidence, and his typical optimism and resiliency is crumbling. He believes his family's well-being and his dreams are in jeopardy as he is being pushed out of his job by unscrupulous competition and younger, tech-savvy workers.
On the brink of making costly decisions, Jim is sensing that he's losing his grip on everything that is important to him, including his legacy. He is battered by the institutional influences over his life. Jim, however, is about to discover an old way of living that will create a new way of thinking and it will come from a most unusual place.

Through a series of recently discovered ancient letters, Jim travels through time. Along his journey, he is given the gifts of perspective, new life, and a renewed spirit. He learns the time-tested secrets to create good health, true wealth, and genuine wisdom, re-takes control of his life, and helps lead and transform the lives of his family, friends, colleagues, and community.
Legacy Letters is a modern parable of one man's choices and teaches readers the acquired virtues that create a new life for him.

Editorial Reviews

Review

Legacy Letters is equal to the best of Og Mandino's work. If you liked "The Greatest Salesman In The World", you will love "Legacy Letters". I have always been a fan of historical fiction and have no hesitation naming DiLeonardi an author to rank among a list of greats like Ken Follett and Bernard Cornwell. While the word count of this novel is significantly lower than the work of the aforementioned masters, Legacy Letters impact is greater due to the element of value able to be harnessed by a modern reader seeking to accomplish great things in today's world. Andy Andrews, N.Y. Times Best-selling Author of The Travelers Gift & The Noticer.

From the Author

Legacy Letters: Discovering The Three Principles to Personal Health, Wealth and Wisdom is a short story of a family overwhelmed with the institutional influences in their life. Health concerns, education and financial stresses are, at times, stealing joy from American families. The ramifications of that joy-depletion have dire consequences on our family and communities. How should we address those challenges?
The main characters discover the answers and commit to re-build personal communities and transform the lives of their family, friends and colleagues. It's a story of personal responsibility and encouraging real outcomes. What they -- and the reader -- will learn through this story is what it takes to be the kind of leader, parent, and citizen we were made to be and how and why your personal legacy needs attention and care now.
We feel the timing for this story is perfect. Actually, in today's environment of angry exchanges between people of both sides of the political aisle, and a lack of trust in our largest institutions, hard working, caring Americans need solutions to our challenges. This book attempts to provide solutions by re-visiting age-old virtues that have stood the test of time and turn them into practical principles.

Character. That elusive concept we try to instill in our children and so often only know we prevailed after another person encounters it within them and lets us know we did ok. So much more important than a Reputation, which is only what others think of you or what you've managed to get them to think of you. A man's character is what matters and reading an enjoyable journey of a great one holding on to his was a lovely break in my day. Not to mention, I love the message that the answers to problems will never come from our government, rather ourselves!

What a gem of a book; so much so that I have already re-read it! The new MiniBuk format made it easy to hold, carry and reference material. I can see giving it as a gift as the messaging is so beautiful and concise, without having to trudge through 300 pages to obtain it.
Tony crafts a story, with profound messaging throughout, of a family struggling with direction and purpose. Upon finding letters by a founding father in their new home’s attic, conversations ensue between the couple as to how they can redirect their lives. Thus begins our lessons on how to serve one another, build discipline and develop wisdom. With such a creative structure to this book, it wasn’t difficult to form a strategy to put them into place. My takeaway was not to let government and external pressures dictate how I live my life, but rather assess my own “time, talents and treasures” and use them wisely.

Thank you, Tony, for giving clarity as to what what really matters in this lifetime.

Short, but packed with emotion and insight. I really enjoyed the author's approach to telling this story. Really nice read in which to curl up on the couch on a wintry afternoon or make a flight go by quickly!

I was blessed a few years ago to have met Tony DiLeonardi when he spoke to a group of advisors. I later hired him to speak to my clients on the topic of Legacy Planning.

I just finished Tony’s newest book, Legacy Letters while sitting in front of my fire.
In an age where material things seem to outweigh the importance of meaningful things like family, values, and relationships Legacy Letters asks the reader to question this modern and often meaningless way of living .

By presenting questions at the end of each section the reader quickly begins to rethink their life much like the Peters family is.

Legacy Letters is the novel the nation needs as we seek true meaning and direction. I highly recommend this book and believe if each family read and discussed the key principals our world would be better off.

Thank you Tony for making this part of your legacy!

After reading Tony's book, I emailed him my thoughts and let him know that he had succeeded as an author by the fact that the book did exactly what any author would want. It connected, it captured your attention and it caused your to think about it after having read it. Tony has the ability to connect with people and through his story, relate to experiences and feelings. Finding commonality in life might not sound exciting, but its the thread that holds us together in our lives. Faith, stress, joy, family, contentment and the ability to gain perspective in our lives regarding them is what will lead us to happiness. The process has been there for ages, and in Legacy Letters, Tony dusted off old but valuable truths and used them to inspire in todays world.

If you are looking for a book to refocus your priorities, get a copy of Legacy Letters. The professional and family challenges faced by the characters in this book are so relatable. It was a great reminder that even in a world polarized by the politics of Washington and outbursts on social media, we still have significant influence on the most important things in life: family, faith, friends and community. It's a story about taking personal responsibility for your life and serving your family and community. It's a quick read that you will enjoy. I read during my flight on a recent business trip, and the time flew by :)

Tony’s core message of living deliberately and authentically within our families and communities, while simple in concept, is so often lost to the chaos of life. This short and piercing story skillfully weaves truly meaningful and roll-up-your-sleeves candor and wisdom into a story that is so easily related to. Many readers will see elements of their lives and the lives of those they love in these pages. The best stories reach through our heads to our hearts and make us want to be better, more purposeful and point us to a better life. Tony humbly does all of this in a quick and fun novel. Great book.
