After forty years of managing not only myself, other people, and various operations, I realize that I needed this book earlier in my managerial career. This book would have prevented some of my critical managerial failures of helping people to realize their dreams. This book provides a personal and practical approach for taking control of your life and holding yourself accountable for fulfilling your dreams. It is a well grounded process that is a dynamic and refreshing approach for personal development and professional satisfaction. The Professional Identity analysis is spot on and a rock solid way to focus on and achieve your dreams. This book is an excellent tool for Human Resource managers at all levels. It is especially a “truth serum” to be taken daily for people managers who want to see their team members excel and develop to their full potential.

This book is also an excellent communication tool for a couple to plan their future together. My wife said, “Upon finishing the book, I am challenged to create the map that comes from my heart, just as demonstrated by this author!” We have recently retired from our corporate jobs, and are beginning a whole new life as of this year. We really appreciate the practical steps in the clearly defined order outlined in this book. We want to begin a career map at this point in our lives and see this tool aiding our path to nonprofit volunteer work.

Thanks so much Nurys for our new GPS tool!

Loved this book! Ms. Harrigan provides a clear process to define the road map to follow and achieve personal and professional satisfaction in your Non-Profit career. Being a corporate professional myself, there are many principles that apply even to for-profit professionals. I have recently been introduced to the business of non-profits as I transition in the next phase of my life and were giving back is now a focus for me. Ms. Harrigan's book makes it clear that choosing the right organization by looking within you first to find your purpose is critical to enjoying what you do and to doing it with passion. I will be using her process before I chose the NPO in in which I'll "Make My Mark". The step by step process outlined in this book is exactly what every Non-profit professional should take before they move on to heir next purposeful position.

Easy read on a not-so-easy subject. SMART goals have been around forever, and here the author has gracefully meshed their utility with Career Mapping. It seems so obvious in retrospect that I can't believe more people aren't doing it! Overall, I found this book to be a very useful guide. As someone who is quite purposeful in his career, this book has helped me to re-evaluate those things that I have been doing and the course my career is currently on in a much more nuanced and informed way.
