Fist of all the paintings are so humane and reflect an understanding of humane nature. The colors are charming. The us e of color in the Chapter introductions adds to the joyous resonance of the book. Jeanne Steigs writing is wonderful and gives us an humorous and intimate peek into the nature of the artist, William Steig.

This is a perfectly delightful book for all those who love William Steig's work, as well as those who have enjoyed it in the New Yorker over many years. Jeanne Steig's personal account of her husband is a delight to read.

I guess I never knew about W. Steig before seeing this book in my library. What I have missed lo these many years. I'm sure I've enjoyed his work in The New Yorker but like so many people never looked at the name or further investigated.

The quality of the printing is phenomenal. Clearly an act of love, by the publishers or his wife perhaps?
The writing (which is spare but perfect) cannot be improved upon, neither can the editing.
I love it so much that I want to start drawing and I do not draw.

Thanks to whoever for publishing this book. I am ordering it today.
