Heaven: Your Real Home . . . From a Higher Perspective Kindle Edition
Gain a fresh perspective on heaven from someone who has endured more than her share of earthly challenges for over fifty years--quadriplegia, cancer, and chronic pain.
Joni Eareckson Tada's bestseller Heaven has inspired us to live well on earth even as we long for eternity, but as Joni tells us in this updated and expanded edition of Heaven, the longer you journey with your eyes on heaven, the more you begin to see.
A quadriplegic for over fifty years, Joni has also endured cancer and extreme ongoing pain, and she doesn't speak lightly when she reminds us that, "God knows the precise tools to use in your life to cut, facet, cleanse, and refine the diamond that is your eternal soul . . . Every good thing that God has ever given you will last for all eternity--including the best part of every affliction."
It is from this vantage point that Joni now speaks about how we can live for Jesus as we look forward to our real home in heaven. Drawing on Scripture, Joni answers the deepest questions of our hearts, including:
- What will heaven be like?
- Who will we be in heaven?
- How can we get ready for heaven?
Join Joni as she invites you on this journey of looking back on God's faithfulness, discovering how we got to where we are, and looking forward to our real home.
Praise for Heaven:
"Joni is a friend of mine who has been leading people with love and courage for decades. God uses the most unlikely guides to take us up the rugged terrain in our faith. God's plan is pretty simple. He wants us to spend forever with Him. This life is just practicing for eternity. Will we face difficulties and setbacks? You bet. In this updated book, Joni has taken us once again to the high places, and she's done so from her chair."

Editorial Reviews
From the Publisher
Step back a moment, focus your eyes of faith, and then come with Joni into a world you've heard about from your youth but have never seen: heaven. You just might discover that heaven is closer--and more real--than you've ever thought.
In this joyful best-seller, Joni Eareckson Tada paints a shining portrait of our heart's true home. Joni talks about what heaven will be like, what we'll do, and whom we'll see. She shows how heaven will be the satisfaction of all that our hearts cry for, something more real than anything this side of eternity.
And Joni tells how we can prepare now for the reality of heaven.
With hope for today and vision for those who struggle in life, Heaven invites us to a refreshing and faith-filled picture of our glorious destination. Once you've caught a glimpse of heaven, you'll see earth in a whole new light. "My friend Joni Eareckson Tada is one of God's choice servants today." -- Chuck Colson, Prison Fellowship "In Heaven, Joni gives a full treatment to one of the most important, yet sadly overlooked, doctrines of Christian faith." -- Philip Yancey, AUTHOR of The Jesus I Never Knew

The book is divided into three parts.
1. What Will Heaven by Like?
2. Will Heaven be Home?
3. The Journey Home.
Throughout the book Joni gives illustrations from her own experiences and from the
experiences of others, especially those with major handicaps. Chapter 5 Why Don’t We
Fit on Earth? resonates with my own experiences. Our culture’s materialism, tasteless
entertainment and corrupt morality cause me to feel this world is not my home. Joni
writes “I’m a little like a refugee who is longing for a better country called heaven.” Pg. 98
Throughout the book Joni gives inspiring and thoughtful insights. For example “We are not only to set our hearts on things above where Christ is seated, but set our minds on
things above as well. That’s hard.” Pg. 127 She explains in detail why that’s hard and promises we will have “the mind of Christ when we lay hold of Him and His ideas.” Pg.129
No book review can do justice to this book!
This is not an easy read. It must be read slowly and thoughtfully. It will challenge many Christians, especially Chapter 9 Getting Ready for Heaven and the scriptures about
suffering. This book can be very helpful to anyone who is severely handicapped or who
takes care of a handicapped person and wants to understand God’s perfect plan for their
life.
It will give all readers a glorious view of our future home and help us focus on Him!
If you want an even more uplifting experience, buy the audio book. Joni is the one who "reads" it, but it comes across more like she's talking straight to you. My wife and I have listened to it several times.
This is the kind of book you woldn't mind reading over and over again. It was uplifting and loaded with encouragement. B. Monroe
You really get to know the author when you read the book
Joni has gained insight and wisdom that those of us bustling busy people rarely can. She asks the questions I ask. (What, there isn’t an ocean in the new heavens and earth? But I LIKE the ocean!) and gently, honestly she digs down to the foundational gemstones.
I wept for joy at several places in the book and finished the last page with reluctance because she has me so thrilled about it all that I didn’t want to stop pondering all she said. In truth, I won’t. This is a book full of treasures to live by, making the most of our brief time here, and making it gold and silver rather than wood, hay and stubble.
Highly recommended.
Her life tells the story of tragedy and miracles and love.

A really great page turner!
Joni Eareckson is such an inspiring writer, and a pleasure to read, especially on this topic of heaven! She has spent many years contemplating and researching the subject from a Christian perspective, and also revels in the prospect of being there, as she 'leans on the windowsill of eternity saying 'come Lord Jesus'.
