About the Author

Stephen Swartz grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, USA, where he was an avid reader of science-fiction and quickly began emulating his favorite authors. Even after veering from science-fiction, his stories usually feature exotic lands and foreign languages, strangers lost in familiar places, and the occasional breakfast menu. Along the way, Stephen studied music in college and worked at a wide range of jobs: from French fry guy to soldier, tax agency clerk, and TV station writer, before heading to Japan for several years of teaching English. Stephen is now a Professor of English and has taught writing in New York, Pennsylvania, Kansas, Oklahoma, as well as China. He lives in Oklahoma, where he can be found working on his next novel most evenings and weekends.

Top review from the United States

I like the literary style with which this story is told. It opens in his parents’ castle, and you can feel the weight of their near immortality as their son struggles to find independence. Stefan’s naïve misadventures are of his own making and are gripping. His conversations with God are some of the best parts of this tale. Milo is a surprise. This story is well-crafted and ends appropriately. I enjoyed the entire book.
