I had this book on my shortlist to read soon, but after my sister inhaled it in record time, she then came to me and said I need to get to it immediately... and she was right :) because this book was phenomenal :) this was only my second book ever written by R. S. Grey, but the first one was ages ago... two years to be exact, but since I read like 250+ books in between them, it seems even longer ;) now I am sitting here wondering what took me so long, cause I am absolutely in love with this author's writing style... so before I'm gonna get into all the reasons why I gave this novel 5 stars and why you all need to read it, let me tell you a bit more about our main couple :)
Meredith finds herself on a ranch in the middle of Texas with only things she has on herself... she left her toxic and abusive husband in the middle of night and pleaded her half-sister Helen for help.. they were never really close, but she finally agrees to help... by contacting her own boss, the hero of this story, Jack, the owner of the ranch I mentioned earlier :) he very reluctantly agrees to give her a housekeeping job, thinking she will bolt in a few days after teaching her husband some imaginary lesson... because everyone thinks that Meredith is this spoiled little princess from California that's just stomping her foot around who will bail at the first sign of troubles... oh, how they are all wrong... I adored Meredith... she was a fantastic character... strong and resilient, she stole my heart from the very first page... Jack on the other hand... oh, he took his sweet time... ;) he's definitely this grumpy and moody guy, and you need a moment to get to know him more... to pierce that hard shell around him to know exactly who he is... :) theirs is definitely a slow burn romance... and those are my personal favourite :) they don't even like each other at the beginning... and to see how that connection changes and grow over the course of the weeks... *sighs dreamily* more please :) ok, now let me jump into all the reasons why I adored this story :)
First of all, the writing style... *sighs happily* it was phenomenal... we had 2 POVs which means we got chapters from Meredith's point of view as well as chapters from Jack's perspective :) and that is definitely my favourite way :) the writing style in general was perfection... funny and emotional when needed, it pulled me in from the very first chapter... you want proof? I finished this book closed to midnight on the day when I got back from my vacation trip, so I was truly exhausted after the long car ride... and yet I was unable to put it down :) yes... it was that good :) but not only the main couple was absolutely fantastic and their romance totally swoonworthy, but the secondary characters... starting with the ranch hands... so cute ;) we get to my two personal faves: Alfred, the world's most adorable dog and Edith, Jack's grandmother :) oh how I loved that woman... everything she says and does... we all need a kickass grandma like her in our lives :) I cannot find words good enough to describe how freaking amazing this whole book was... so just go read it ASAP :) I could spend days and days trying to describe each and every little thing I loved about it, but then... you would be absolutely spoiled about everything :) so instead I will let you discover all those beautiful parts of it for your own... :) just think about this: if you need a wonderful story that will make you laugh and swoon and a little teary... especially at the end... I swear I swooned so hard during the whole epilogue :) if you need a book that will pull you in from the first chapter... with the writing style so entertaining that you will keep turning page after page not caring what time it is... then pick up this gem :) you can thank me later :) just like I thanked my sister for shoving this book in my face and demanding that I read it immediately... now I am doing the same thing to you guys :) #NoShame #NoRegrets ;) read this book NOW!!! :) I promise not to shout "I told you so" when you fall in love with it ;) because this one will hit you in all the feels... :)

R.S. Grey is my go-to feel good author. I know when I read a Grey novel, I am going to find silly banter, charismatic characters, hilariously funny situations, and passion. By the end I always have a huge smile on my face and a warm feeling in my heart. Grey is one of those authors who can do no wrong. (literally…try to convince me otherwise) All of her novels have been a hit with me. Dare I say Grey is the RomCom Queen! Surprise, Surprise, Arrogant Devil is NO different. A slow burn that will have you begging for it. Meredith and Jack start off rocky, it was not insta-love that is for sure. First impressions and preconceived notations get in the way of feelings that are developing between the two. Grey does an amazing job at giving the characters time to develop. As always Grey’s writing is always done well! I loved the characters. Jack, the hero who could not let anyone into his heart, because of past tragedies that hurt him so deeply. Meredith the girl who is totally done taking everyone’s BS, starting with her useless and sorry excuse for a husband. Meredith moves to Texas to start over, what she did not know was that Texas has something California didn’t… COWBOYS!!! Arrogant Devil was a such a sweet story. At the core of it, it’s about a boy and a girl who can’t help but bicker, (love it) but underneath burns from passion. The tension and pull between Jack and Meredith was FABULOUS! It had all the feels of a slow burn (my favorite). I was itching for these two to just give it up and boy did Grey make me sweat. When that moment finally happened, I am pretty sure I could have died. There was a HUGE smile spread across my face. Let’s not forget one of the most important characters in the book…. EDITH!!!! Oh my word, EVERYONE needs someone like her in their corner. How hilarious and sly was she? I LOVE HER!!!!!! What’s not to love about this book? Meredith’s ex-husband and sister. Ugh… these two… WHATEVER... besides them… I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!! Seriously, R.S. Grey has another hit on her hands. Don’t be a fool. Pick this up asap and thank me later!
