About the author
Agathe Singer was born in Normandy on the northern coast of France and left for Paris when she was seventeen to study art and graphic design. She worked as a graphic designer at an advertising agency until 2013, when she left to become a full-time freelance illustrator. Ever since she has filled her life with paints, colors, and joyful projects.
Her studio is set in her Parisian apartment, which she shares with her artist husband and their young daughter. Her work is reminiscent of her childhood dreamy garden, exploring a universe of colorful and naive fauna and flora, with a special attention to birds and flowers.
“I used to spend hours out in the garden and the fields with my brother and sister, building wooden huts, picking leaves for our terrariums, watching birds, climbing trees, inventing stories, and riding our pony on the beach… It was a joyful time in nature and those precious memories nourish my work. In my painting I’m always trying to go back to this feeling of childhood, where the world and the nature is full of joy but also strangeness.”
