Faith Thomas was running from her ex. She couldn't let the serial killer get custody of their daughter, Zoe. After seeing troublesome news in the paper and having her house ransacked, she knew she had to leave town. She was even more scared when she saw a man talking to Zoe at the library. Zoe was so cute when she helped customers at the library - acting like an adult employee. She was actually quite good at it. The man was undercover operative Léon Royce. It was his job to assess people so when he saw the terrified look on Faith's face he wanted to know more about it and help if he could. He didn't care if it meant blowing his cover.

I almost stopped reading after the first few pages about the ex because he was so creepy but I'm glad I didn't. I really liked the characters (other than the ex). Faith and Léon were a couple whom I became fully invested in right from the start! And Zoe was so cute but did complicate things for them. How can you make a 5-year-old understand she can't contact anybody from her past because her father might find them?

As I closed the book, I thought Oh My God. I loved this fast-paced romantic suspense and highly recommend it.

The plot was a bummer and carried out the details of a family member in crisis. The author captures your interest at least better than the end.
