Letting Go of Secrets

Letting Go of Secrets
** “God would never leave her nor forsake her. But she couldn’t sense him with her. With everything that had happened, Willow felt like God was far from her.” ** “The pain in this life could overwhelm. She needed hope. Something to hang on to.” Elizabeth Goddard has entered into the romantic suspense field with her latest novel, “Never Let Go,” a tale that keeps the reader guessing to the very end. Still reeling from the hit-and-run death of her beloved grandfather and business partner, JT, forensic genealogist Willow Anderson decides to take on his final case — a woman searching for her baby daughter who was kidnapped 21 years ago. Willow is dismayed to learn JT had requested help from her former flame, Austin McKade, but when more and more disasters hit Willow, she realizes she needs to accept help from Austin, a former FBI agent who now works as a private investigator. As the case takes them from Seattle and desperate mom Katelyn’s Texas home to Austin’s hometown in Wyoming, he and Willow work to put together the clues to find Katelyn’s daughter. And while in Wyoming, Austin must face the demons from his own past, including an alcoholic and abusive father, while rebuilding a relationship with his estranged brother Heath. “Never Let Go” is filled with many different puzzle pieces. Willow and Austin must work quickly to determine which pieces fit together while constantly fighting off death threats and overcoming their own self doubts. And as they struggle to determine who stole the baby and why, will they also be able to overcome past issues in their relationship to build a romance once again? The author does a great job of building strong and likable characters who are also deeply relatable, with very human fears and weaknesses. Told mainly in alternating perspectives of Willow and Austin, “Never Let Go” is a great, fast-paced romantic suspense that’s also filled with so many amazing concepts: protecting those we love; you’re not alone because God is always with you; we must use our time and gifts that God gives us; we must be deliberate with our time and with others; overcoming regret and blame; the pain and destruction of hiding secrets; we’re always connected to our roots; and God is our rock and will never leave us nor forsake us. I truly enjoyed “Never Let Go,” which was my first novel by Goddard. Fans of authors like Lynette Eason, Lisa Harris, Patricia Bradley, Sandra Orchard and Terri Blackstock will truly enjoy this novel. I’m looking forward to the series’ next installment, which tells Heath’s story and is due in Fall 2019. Five stars out of five. Never Let Go
    Uncommon Justice #1
    By Elizabeth Goddard

Willow Anderson isn't sure she'll ever be as good as her Grandfather, or as good as he thought she was, but she's determined to close out his last case. But the case he took just before his death is different than any they had ever before taken on. As a forensic genealogist, Willow is used to tracking down records and finding long-lost family connections but Anderson Consulting has never before taken on a cold case abduction.

Worse someone seems intent on stopping Willow before she can even get started. Is it mere coincidence or is someone truly targeting Willow?

Learning that her grandfather reached out to her ex-boyfriend Austin McKade for his assistance on this case is an unexpected complication. For the two years following their devastating breakup, they've managed to avoid seeing one another but they now find themselves working together. Secrets kept have a way of dividing and Austin's past was a topic of non-disclosure - the wounds of his childhood and his father's death went too deep.

Time is running out to solve a 21-year-old case in which a newborn was abducted mere hours after birth. Is Jamie still alive? And what clues can they find when the police and FBI could find no traces when the case was fresh?

This is a book that will take you on a rollercoaster as the case progresses and the danger continually builds to a climax that is sure to keep the pages turning. The book is marked as being the first in Uncommon Justice series so I'm interested to see how this plays out. Will it follow Austin and Willow? Or will Austin's brothers take central roles? Will Anderson Consulting be a common denominator?

The characters were engaging and well worth getting to know. And as to the perpetrator's identity that is a well-twisted excursion that will misdirect the reader a time or two until the conclusion!

I enjoyed this book very much! The prologue hooked me, but the story itself carried me to the end. By a quarter of the way, I had already formed a SHIP with the two main characters.

I was impressed that the author opened the book with grief. Honestly, I feel grief can be one of the hardest things to write because the emotions can be crippling, depressing, or... motivating. I think Elizabeth managed a bit of all three with a ton of the latter.

I really liked Willow, and related to her in many ways. Her fears of being left, her determination for justice, and, eventually, quiet understanding of Austin as he began to deal with his past. I don't know. I just got her. Which was nice.

I also loved the pace of this book. It did get to be a bit much with the two MC's longing for the other but knowing they didn't have a life together. When in reality, the only thing standing between them wasn't something that couldn't be fixed. But otherwise, I loved all the action, possible death at every turn, questions of who's good and who was bad.

The plot twists were awesome, but placed together so well. Nothing was written by chance or left half empty. I so admire this writer.

It was a wonderful book, and I fully plan on finishing this series!

This book was exciting from start to finish. Willow and Austin story was one of redemption and love. JT Willow grandfather believed in them both. That why he brought them back together. Dana JT assistant was a little pushy and not very trusting. Both Austin and Willow had a lot of secrets between them to resolve. But they resolved them all was well. Austin was able to reconcile with his brother Heath. Who was keeping something from that had to do with their case. There was a lot of different areas this story ran. I'm happy that Kaitlyn and Charlie story got resolved. Looking forward to Heath story. Austin had never stopped loving Willow or she him. Will read more by this author she did a great job.

I loved getting to know Willow and Austin while following the clues and evidence to solve the cold kidnapping case which took them from Washington state to Wyoming.

Willow has an interesting job; however, I feel that there was not really a lot of focus on what she does and how she used it in this cold case.

The suspense plot was fast paced and edge of your seat with twists and turns and not knowing who to trust. There was one point however that I realized who was behind everything, so that slowed the suspense part down for me a bit.

I loved that Willow and Austin had a past which they needed to figure out. I love that this series is about brothers who lost contact and events are bringing them back together.

The setting of Wyoming and the ranch was well described, and I can’t wait to get to know the brothers better.

This story about healing and strengthening broken relationships was strong and I enjoyed my time with these characters.

What a fantastic book! Willow’s grandfather, JT, brought her into his Private Investigator business. Their specialty is finding people. Before his sudden death, JT called in Ex-FBI agent Austin. He wanted Austin’s help in finding a woman’s new born daughter who was taken from the hospital 21 years ago. Austin’s also the man who broke Willow’s heart in the past! Can he find the kidnapped young woman before she’s silenced? When Willow’s targeted, they need to find the abductors before it’s too late. I loved this story and will be reading the next book in the series!

An interesting story. Lots of drama and threats and losses. A bit convoluted for my tastes. However, the characters and issues are interesting and keep you reading for more understanding. A pretty good ending.

What a treat to find a new-to-me, established author with a book that could keep me reading past my bedtime.

This one engaged me to the point of trying to figure out the mystery myself when usually I just follow the characters along for the ride. Did I solve it? No, but I did guess the main villain before it was obvious to the characters!

I liked the writing, the characters, the faith elements, and the beautiful Wyoming scenery. I definitely plan to finish this series!
