I'll be honest, this book didn't hold many surprises for me - but what made me love it was the journey to the end. Usually, Love Inspired books are too fast of reads for me. But when they are by Jill Lynn they somehow seem 200 pages longer and filled with a lot more substance. Both Gage and Emma deal with aspects of their pasts that weigh heavily on them. While I didn't relate with either of their specific circumstances, they made very relatable characters and their character flaws were believable and not overly exagerated. I cannot even imagine being Gage. The situation he ended up in was incredibly challenging. In fact, Lynn probably could have made his life way more difficult and still kept it all very believable. I loved all of his qualities, especially how hard working he was at everything. Emma drove me crazy a few times, but the females usually do! But I love how she was described throughout this book. She is a woman who doesn't know how to do anything without loving.
My favorite parts of this book were when life was just happening. There was nothing exciting, no conflicts (except internal!) or problems. I loved watching life unfold in the normal, boring, day to day of Gage's ranch and Emma nannying. Sometimes it is nice to just read a book where it isn't all over the top. I liked reading about what seemed like the guy next door instead of a big made up guy. I also liked that the emotions that came out in this book were very realistic.
Lynn's Love Inspired books are among my very favorite of the collection. She writes amazing stories and characters and I cannot wait to see what she comes up with next!
I received an advanced copy of this book from the author. This is my honest opinion.
I couldn’t imagine suddenly gaining custody of someone else’s baby, and that being your first experience as a parent. I don’t blame Gage for freaking out, and who better to help him then Emma, the person all kids love? It doesn’t hurt that she is generous to a fault either. Problems tend to arise when people want different things, and Gage and Emma can’t agree on what is best for baby Hudson. I loved being able to watch the characters grow and develop, and would love to have friends like them in my life. Both characters had experiences in their past that caused them to think lower of themselves than they should. I know we can all relate to that. Love is a risk, but it’s worth it. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good romance. I received a copy of this book and was in no way obligated to post a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
