Love's Journey in Sugarcreek: Love Rekindled (Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.8 out of 5 stars 318 ratings

A dying marriage. A heroic Amish midwife. A nameless baby girl.
When Dr. Michael Reynolds gets an opportunity to take over a country veterinarian practice in Sugarcreek, Ohio, he jumps at it. His wife, Cassie, a Columbus attorney, is climbing the corporate ladder with lightning speed and refuses to go with him. Neither will compromise.
An Amish midwife heroically saves a newborn when its mother is killed on Christmas morning. Horrified at where the baby will be placed, she chooses to break the law and hide the infant among her people.
Sugarcreek’s best, Officer Rachel Mattias, hunts for the baby’s family, but her investigation takes her to the inner-city streets of Cleveland where she has to fight through a dark maze of lies, suspicion, gang culture, and an overwhelmed children’s services agency.
When two people’s dreams collide, who will win?
Can an Amish midwife have the courage to stand up against serious threats?
Will Rachel’s vow to uphold the law endanger an innocent?

This is about happiness and how it is achieved in two families. Rachel finds it with her husband, their son and adopted daughter. Michael and Cassie find it through her illness. Rachel’ s aunts find it through work and involving others in that work. Very good story with believable characters.

These are very good books but little things are distracting. Here, again, a good editor is important! She often uses the words "sit" or "sat" when she should use "set." She uses "crumbled" when she means "crumpled;" and "repulsive" when she means "repulsed," in books 2 &3.

Every time I read the next book in Serena B. Miller's series I think it won't top the last one but each book in the Sugarcreek series is amazingly written and stands on its own. I love the accuracy of many parts of the book that shows the author did her research. I love how the characters are realistic and very believable. Having spent many years as a foster care and adoption specialist... I appreciate how this topic was approached, realistically and non judgemental. Thank you for another great read, Serena!

I wasn’t sure that I would like this book as well as the first two books. I really liked Joe and Rachel’s story in the first two books. I didn’t think I would like new characters, but wow! On to number 4! I can’t wait!
