I have read lots of Mr. Anthony's fantasy books and have truly enjoyed them. This was my first trip into his SF and it was great! If you enjoy imaginative fiction there is a great chance you will enjoy this series.

This is actually a great story that holds the interest of the reader. Each of the volumes is a self contained story that is only enhanced when read in order. Although a long-time Piers Anthony fan, I had not encountered this series until I purchased the Kindle version of the series. I think any Piers Anthony fan would find this a very enjoyable read.

Ok, now for the bad news. The author explains early on that he has retyped this series from the original since digital was not an option at the original writing. What comes across is that the retype has allowed many mistakes to enter that would have been caught with proper editing. This is why I have dropped one star from the rating.

I read this series several years ago and enjoyed them. However, upon rereading this series decades later I found them just okay, but not the best representation of the author's creative works. I still particularly enjoy Cluster and Thousandstar in this series. Too often in this series the author goes off topic to impress the reader with his intelligence. I found myself skimming these sections and thinking just get to the point and get back on topic. I would still recommend this series, but I find the author's other works in science fiction and fantasy fantastic reads. I have most of his books in hard copy.

I have always enjoyed the Xanth series by Piers Anthony and this was a great chance to see the how he was in a more scifi genre. He lived up to every expectation. One of the things I love most about his creativity is his fully fleshed out species. His characters are vivid and engaging and coupled with wonderfully imagined worlds, he really draws you into the stories.

This a 1500 page monster. The individual novels/chapters have some good, great, and so, so moments. So much focuses on aura/personal energy ; I wish that they would just mention that in the beginning. Some interesting concepts and points of view.

I first read this series in th ‘80s. It was the first books I read for pleasure. Was fun reading them again. Since then I have read hundreds of book and most of Mr Anthony’s work.

I started reading Mr. Anthony's books back in the 1980's and have loved many of them. With that said I don't feel these novels are his best work. There were a couple of books in this series I really enjoyed, but the others were just OK. I do have too give Mr. Anthony credit as this series for the most part had non-human type aliens as the main character and that says a lot about his skill as a writer to be able to write a series with such strange lead characters and not only make it interesting, but also get you to identify with the characters. Truly this deserves three and a half stars but that isn't a choice. I think I was also expecting something like his "Bio of a Space Tyrant" series which I thought was excellent. I highly recommend it as well as "Battle Circle.". I have also read many of his " Xanth" novels many years ago and these are a more serious style of writing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Deeply moving set of novels full of philosophy of life
Reviewed in Australia on March 8, 2020
The set encompasses thousands of years of the future history of the human species, with an underlying theme of the philosophy of life. It is a bit of a marathon read but it is a very worthwhile one. I have read a lot of his Xanth novels and many of his sci fi novels and this series is a great example of his sci fi style.

2.0 out of 5 stars So many typos! Buy the print version.
Reviewed in Australia on February 5, 2020
The frequent formatting and typographical errors in the first book are really disappointing. Clearly the publisher using optical character recognition tech and not bothering to send it through a human editor to see if sentences make sense or are even complete. I'm not sure if I can return this series since it has been a while since purchasing but I am going to try. The issue is not an infrequent one with ebooks but this is the worst I have come across. Publishers, please have more respect for your readers and authors!
And if you want female characters with any sort of substance at all and who do something other than looking pretty, this does not appear to be that series based on the first book.

3.0 out of 5 stars I stumbled in this read at book two

Sorry to say this did not keep me engrossed as I thought it would. The premise of reanimating to disparate entities across galaxies did not keep my attention and so gave up. Sorry about that.
