Editorial Reviews
Review
"There is a lot at stake in this fast-paced, engrossing thriller. The author succeeds in grabbing the attention of the reader from the onset and keeps it riveted until the explosive denouement. The narration is excellent, featuring timely paragraph breaks that reinforce the strength of the drama in the story. I enjoyed the conflict between the characters, the doubts, the differences in opinions that allow these characters to evolve through the story. The plot is cunningly done, with twists and turns that readers will want to follow. On the Count of Three is exciting, a read filled with thrills. Carolyn Arnold makes sure the reader gets no moment of respite from the dynamic action that punctuates the narrative. A real page-turner."-Readers' Favorite ★★★★★

The cases are the most interesting in this series, LITERALLY.
Having to read more whining on Paige's part over Brandon. OLDER WOMAN been around and knew and did not care he was married AND so get over it and yourself. VERY BORING, TIRING STORY LINE THERE.
Brandon - from all I have garnered on 7 books - is a typical pig of a man, wants what he wants and all consequences be damned. Slept with her while in training. WAS MARRIED. Typical cowardly male - push and isolate your mate long enough THEY LEAVE and you don't have to be the bad guy. Justifying everything every book. AGAIN OLD NEWS, BEEN THERE READ THAT.
In this book with a very interesting story line, they show nothing but ineptness - they have the girlfriend on camera - feel she is in danger and WAIT AND WAIT TO GO AFTER HER AND yep no brainer or spoiler there, she ends up dead. NICE GOING.
sorry this was stretching it.
It is sad for me when I am begging to be on the last book because I just can not deal with the characters.
PAIGE - Shallow and self-centered with not much to redeem her the more you read.
JACK - the boss who breaks rules to smoke because HE CAN. AND always that back story there that we are not being told about but enough thrown out there. TIRED OF THE DANGLE.
ZACH - most interesting until he wasn't
NADIA- now she I picture almost like Penelope from Criminal Minds because she came across as so smart and computer savvy and quirky.
BRANDON - said it all - not much of a character.
I have read a few series with 1 having 35++ books and so looked forward to reading them because of the developing of the characters
I CAN NOT WAIT TO FINISH THIS SERIES, WILL NOT LOOK BACK or forward for any others.
It begins with the abduction of a women who has been taken by a serial killer. Jack's team does not normally get called until someone is murdered. In this instance, Jack receives a direct call from a detective in Miami Beach who he is friendly with. This person has determined that this case is similar to cases which have resulted in a killing where the victims' head is decapitated. Jack calls his team together and they go to Miami Beach.
The victim is still missing when they arrive and they begin looking for information to learn where the victim is so they can save her. As they do their search and start looking into old cases, an event occurs which gives them their 1st lead. As they learn more, they head of the victim has turned up. In addition, more bodies have also been found that don't fit with the MO of the serial killer. They learn that the killer is using the name John Doe. Through hard work, they discover who the killer and take steps to arrest him.
To discover what the killer's real name is, what drove him to start killing, what connection the detective in Miami Beach had, then you need to read this book. Following the deductive reasoning will keep your interest right through the end.
Seventh in the series 'Brandon Fisher FBI', 'On the Count of Three' is a look into the soul of a human capable of extreme terror, and the heart of the folks at FBI who can get past that horror and seek insight into the minds of those perpetrators. This one is pretty raw, with gruesome acts and the odd look into necrophilia, so not appropriate for teens. Still, a good mystery for those who can read it without weeping. Taking place in Miami and Dade County, we see a lot of the folks from the prior novels featuring Brandon, and the interaction of the peacekeepers is as usual pretty awesome.
The threads that are being pulled in this case include, drunk drivers, political connections, family, church and secret relationships; with a dose if Serial Killing thrown in for good measure.
Carolyn Arnold has once again created a book that will keep you up well into the night.
