There are some forces you can’t outrun—and they’re coming for your family. The final thriller featuring forensic psychologist Claire Markwood.

Forensic psychologist Claire Markwood has experienced her share of disaster. But nothing could prepare her for her sister, Darcy, going missing. Claire rushes to the butterfly sanctuary where Darcy has been working, prepared to do what she does best—work the clues. But her sister, along with her car and some of the sanctuary’s rarest species of butterflies, has seemingly vanished without a trace.

Amid a flurry of mysterious leads and dead ends, Claire and her criminal lawyer husband, Nick, tap every resource at their disposal. But the deeper they dig, the more unsettling the case becomes, dredging up old family secrets that shake the foundation of everything Claire thought to be true. Because some secrets aren’t just threatening—they’re deadly.

I've read all the South Shore books and have enjoyed them. Each one has a different mystery/dilemma which is solved by Clair and Nick and their intrepid friends. These are easy reads and written to be interesting. I recommend this series.

This book was full of twists and turns that kept me intrigued. Darcy is missing and there’s no clues about what happened to her. A hurricane is expected and the list of suspects in Darcy’s disappearance keeps growing. I’d really like this series to continue!

This is the sixth book in this series. It starts with the disappearance of Darcy, Claire’s sister. She was working at a butterfly sanctuary. And the only trace is her phone and some missing rare butterflies. Claire and Nick can’t help getting involved in the investigation. The detective, Ken, keeps threatening to lock them up. And there is the added danger of an impending hurricane. And Claire’s ex-husband is now flying for NOAA. And there nanny is eight months pregnant. This story has lots of danger. And many surprise plot twists. I also love that this book is set in Florida where I grew up. It’s nice to know the landscape.

This is the first book I have read by Karen Harper and I enjoyed it very much. what I enjoyed most was her attention to detail concerning the setting location. I am from Naples lived there for forty plus years we moved away in 2012. I was nice to know exactly the places she named in her book. It made me a little home sick. I am loo loo king forward to reading her next one.

I've never read an author that can fill a book with so much suspense and story lines as Karen Harper. Her books are page turners! And this one is no different. Sorry this series is ending.

This is Karen Harper's 5th book in her ' South Shores ' series. It takes place in SW Florida, close to Naples. It is an interesting story with a bit of a creepy surprise late in the novel. Claire Markwood is a forensic psychologist and her husband , Nick is a criminal lawyer. They have lived an exciting life , as anyone who has read the preceding 4 novels understands. Her first husband, Jace is still in her life and the first family and her second get along pretty well.
Her sister . Darcy volunteers at a butterfly ranch. However Claire and Darcy's lives are going to be upended when Darcy fails to come home one day. Her husband, Steve and Claire and Nick go crazy trying to find out what happened. Thank goodness they have a great friend in detective, Ken Jensen.
They are all going to work together to solve this crisis .
The plot sometimes slows down a bit but in the end you will be witness to a lot of surprises and actually some creepy revelations. But the book does hold your attention!
