Win the Heart: How to Create a Culture of Full Engagement Kindle Edition
Learn how to create a workforce that’s more creative, more driven, and more enthusiastic about reaching company goals.
Every great company has an engaged workforce, and nurturing a culture of engagement is at the heart of great leadership—employees who really care about their work, their coworkers, and the organization can supercharge a company’s success. But for many years, engagement has been suffering. Gallop reports that seventy percent of employees are not fully engaged on the job. Mark Miller draws on more than forty years of leadership experience to show leaders at all levels how to change the conversation and create real competitive advantage in the process.
In the fourth book in Miller’s High Performance Series, CEO Blake Brown sets out to discover how to create the kind of workplace where everyone feels excited to come to work, passionate about what he or she brings to the company, and energized at the end of the day. It’s a journey that takes him literally all over the world—from Italy to Greece to Green Bay and more. What he discovers from the pages of history is as relevant as the evening news.
Engagement unleashes untapped potential buried deep within the hearts of your people. An engaged workforce is more creative, more driven, and more enthusiastic about reaching company goals. If you put the lessons in this book to work, your people will never look at work, or their leaders, the same way again.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 16, 2023If you just hire hands, you’ll never reach their hearts. This was an amazing scavenger hunt read!
Isn’t it amazing how the most important fundamentals never change, and how easy it is for us to forget this…
- Reviewed in the United States on March 15, 2019With so much out there on the lack of employee engagement, Mark Miller writes a book that breaks down what you can really do about it. The four practical cornerstones can be used by any company or team to create a caring culture. As he says, "When engagement is low in an organization, it is not the fault of the employees. Leadership is responsible - we must create a workplace that generates massive levels of care." This book will show you how. I can't wait to get the Field Guide as well.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 16, 2019As is usual, this is an easy read, following Blake, Charlie and others at their company. The involvement of Blake's wife was especially significant, because her role became as important as his, and resulting in a rekindling of her own passion and goals. A bit disappointing is that some specific action points that could be easily followed to put the discoveries into place. But I will look forward to book # 4 next year.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 8, 2019Mark Miller's new book, “Win The Heart” may be his best yet! Mark shares timeless ideas for engaging your workforce (and personal life). Really enjoyed the Ice-Bowl example. “No Hired Hands....we should work to create a workplace that will generate massive levels of genuine care...We have to win the heart!” I recommend this book to help encourage and epuip you to change your world.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2019Want to know some of the secrets behind the success of Chick-fil-A, read some of Mark’s books. Instead of getting too deep in a bunch of leadership topics, he focuses on one set of principles in a easy to read/learn book. You will want to share ideas with others. From C-suite executives to stockboys and cashiers everyone will enjoy this one.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 7, 2019I like Mark Miller's books a lot. Blake appears again with the new challenge which my organization also faces today. How to engage our coworkers bothers me a while. Then I found this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 24, 2020You never cross the finish line to full engagement. The cornerstones presented here, however, provide clarity on the essential ingredients that must be embedded in each days activities.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 15, 2020The overall message of the book is a very good and helpful one. It explains some of the key components needed to create an engaged team and the role of leaders play in creating that environment. It is told in a business fable format that makes for a quick read, but also simplifies things a little too much for my taste. I like a little more meat, and that is what is lacking in this story. The concepts make sense and seem like something to strive for, but there is not much discussion about why those things matter, other than a few anecdotal examples. It is also pretty light on the details of how to accomplish the goals that it describes.
Overall, still a worthwhile read, but felt incomplete in some areas.
