- Reviewed in the United States on November 26, 2018I have read many of the Hacked Learning Series Books and by far this is perhaps the most powerful. As an EDD student in Instructional Design, I found each of the "hacks" very thought provoking in its concept and practical in its application. A couple of the highlights follow:
The "hacks" on prioritizing and unpacking the standards is a critical skill for teachers to master, as I feel that teachers interpret the standards in many ways resulting in different content being delivered.
Several of the "hacks" focus on learning plans and the need to dispense with granular lesson plans, a must read for all administrators and teachers.
I highly recommend this book for all teaching professionals.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 27, 2018What an enjoyable book! The authors touch on so many prominent theories of education (Bloom, Hayes Jacobs, etc.), but they make classroom application practical by adding actionable questions that you can apply to your own lesson design. Teachers have so little time to thoughtfully plan, but the hacks described here really do enable “smarter work” instead of “harder work.” I read it quickly because it was so engaging, but I will read it again more thoroughly over the semester break as I prepare for the second half of the school year. Thanks to Hack Learning for another great resource!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2018The book contains some good insights, but lacks depth and detailed examples of suggested ideas.
Some aspects are also already covered elsewhere in more detail (e.g. gamification).
- Reviewed in the United States on January 11, 2019I am really enjoying this book. Great information that is practical and can be used right away. This is a book for all educators! I love the tips and ideas that are shared throughout.
